THREADS - FEATHER & MOON

outfit details: sweater + phone case c/o chicwish // shirt - gifted from rain // leggings - walmart // sandals - blowfish // earrings - sun & glory // necklace - my mothers

My sweet friend Rain sent me this shirt in the mail and I couldn't wait to wear it.  Its a perfect fit, I love how long it is and that it has pockets!  So very sweet of you Hill!!!  And this sweater is uh-mazing.  I had no idea how soft it was going to be.  It is the perfect winter snuggle sweater.  I think they are sold out, but this one is just as cute.  I was super sad when my phone case started breaking a while back (also a sweet gift from Rain), so Ive been on the hunt for a new one.  As soon as I saw this one from chicwish, I knew it was the one.  During fall and winter, I start gravitating towards leggings, alot.  I found these at walmart a few years back for about $5 and love them.  Its kind of fun that in Texas Ive been able to wear sandals with sweaters.  The weather is just right to mix it up for a little while.  Still loving these blowfish sandals.  You might remember seeing these earrings in the latest Bohemian Collective lookbook, Mystic Moon.  They were paired with that amazing owl mask.  Sun & Glory has the most amazing macrame jewelry.  I also especially love her painted rocks.  And this sweet sweet moon necklace... the pendant was my moms.  It was in her stash of random things (she had lots of those).  I found it the other day and knew I wanted to make myself a simple everyday necklace with it.  I love how its old and worn.  Its absolutely the perfect moon.

Yesterday was a good day.  James and I strolled into a local thrift store we had not been into before and discovered an entire wall full of yummy books.  They had bought the inventory of a retired metaphysical shop!  I came home with several amethyst clusters and one luscious huge crystal cluster and about 8 books.  I was like a kid in a candy shop, in my own one horse town.  I couldn't believe it.  I'm saving my pennies to go back for more.  They also had a golden velvet chair that I want so bad.  But yeah, its kind of ridiculous for me to get another chair.  But oh my... my heart was a melting.

THREADS - A HINT OF PAISLEY

(outfit details:  crochet top - festival // paisley dress - hand-me-down // hi lo skirt - lulu's.com // belt - ruche // sandals - blowfish shoes // necklace - roots and feathers // earrings - belle la vie)

Fall has re-ignited my passion for layering.  I really wanted to wear this gorgeous hi-lo skirt from Lulu's.com the other day, but didn't feel like having bare legs.  I ended up layering it over this printed maxi dress and paired it with one of my alltime favorite wardrobe pieces, this little crochet crop top.  Ive had this top for about 15 years now.  I will wear it until it falls apart.  This outfit could easily transition into fall with a sweater and boots.  The necklace is a preview of new jewelry coming to Roots and Feathers

I feel like Ive been blogging alot more frequently lately.  For the first time last month, I actually got a calendar just for my blogging and nothing else.  Before, I would include just important posts I needed to remember, like giveaways, along with all of my other daily life events... but I would always forget to check.  Keeping this calendar dedicated to just my blog has helped me stay more organized.  And has allowed me to visually see and keep up with all the things I want to blog.  Sometimes I takes photos of things throughout my day, and they never end up here because I forget!  Im a very forgetful person.  If I dont write something down when Im thinking about, Ill forget.  And half the time, I forget to check my notes.  Probably b/c Im also pretty unorganized, and tend to write things on post it notes, or random pieces of paper on my desk, and they get all jumbled in piles.  So for once, I feel organized!  At least in one area.  And I have seen how much it has helped me!  I definitely feel quality vs. quantity is best, so I hope it hasn't been overwhelming with all the posting lately, but it has all been stuff I truly want to share.  Maybe its the season too, tends to get my creative sparks a flyin.

Im getting very excited for the upcoming Bohemian Collective lookbook!  It's still almost 2 months away from the release, but the photographing will start mid next month.  The collection of artists is so amazing.  And it will be fun to bring out a bit of my darker side in this round.  Im truly giddy.  And we have designed a new Skyline Fever design just for the collective, eeek!  (by the way, James is having a 20% off sale in his shop right now, with the code FALL20).

Tomorrow is the Autumn Equinox, which also means is James and I's anniversary!  5 years.  Dang.  Im kind of proud of us.  Marriage is not a cake walk.  It can be rough and messy and sometimes look so foreign.  But through all the mud, Im glad we have found ways to see the light in each other.  We will be celebrating tonite with some pizza and beer (well, Ill drink beer, hell drink a coke).  And most likely some yummy dessert.  We are sooooo fancy, ha.  That is what you get when you are saving for a car.  But we don't mind.  We dont need a fancy getaway to celebrate.

Im in a ramblin' mood.  Geez.  I started on a fun outdoors project this morning.  I just need to get some dirt and some more rocks.  I want to get my fall garden started so bad, its time!  The weather outside is amazing.  The babies have been soaking it up!  So have the hummingbirds!

I have a post coming up about the Autumn Equinox on The Mama Earth Project, so be on the lookout over there this weekend!

THREADS - CORAL MOON

This was what I wore the other night on my date with my bestie.  Ive been on an Obella Organics kick lately, and this skirt is no exception.  Betsy's color palette is so beautiful, and each piece she makes is soooo comfortable.  I cannot wait to watch her collection grow.  And this handmade clutch from Bird Trouble was the most perfect combo with the color of the skirt!  This is the first clutch Ive ever owned.  Ive always been afraid I would leave my purse somewhere if it was a clutch, b/c Im so used to having a strap around me, but so far, Ive been good!!  And even though Im so ready for fall and just want to start wearings boots, I need to squeeze in as much sandal time as I still can.  These blowfish sandals are still some of my favorites.  They are starting to get in some amazing boots for winter though!!  And... the body chain is a new piece for Roots and Feathers, coming soon.  Its been a while since Ive made one.  I have soooo many new things to list.  Im starting to get re-inspired, after feeling a huge lull for a long time.  I think the cooler weather may have brought with it a touch of my creative spirit back.  Thank you winds of change.

(for those who will ask, the tank was thrifted and the rings are from f21)

These were taken in my backyard next to my little garden box with plumbego and pomegranate bush.  I cut all of my tomato plants back and my herbs, and they are all starting to rebush and look beautiful again after so much texas heat this summer.  Its time to start planting a fall garden.  Its the perfect weather to get outside and play.  This morning while I was talking on the phone to my nanna, there were four hummingbirds buzzing around my head, playing with each other.  It was so cute.  I love how they are not afraid to get super close to you.  Amazing little creatures.

Threads - Lavender Flowerchild >>>

Here is the second outfit shoot done by my hubby! Im realizing I smile alot more, but mostly b/c Im nervous I think. Im teaching him how to take certain shots, like close ups. Before you know it, hell be a pro! Im also noticing that as spring has blossomed, so has the color in my wardrobe! All of a sudden Ive felt like breaking out my more colorful pieces. This adorable lavender tee is the newest set for Skyline Fever. I still need to finish photographing them for the shop! I loved the color combo so much I had to snag one. I think I now have snagged 5 flowerchild shirts, eeek!  The skirt is actually a dress, you know one of those simple ruched tube top dresses.  I couldnt believe how perfect this belt from Gypsy Warrior went with these two pieces.  It picked up just the right colors.  Also, can I say I am over the moon with my new Blowfish sandals.  These ones are called the Gypsies.  They also just stocked some of the most fabulous shoes I have seen to date in their shop!  Gooooo look!  It makes my heart race just looking at them.  I really can be a nerd over clothes.  Sometimes I wish I didnt love them so much, but goodness I do.  I love how an article of clothing can make you feel just so you.  For as long as I can remember, Ive been a bit obsessed with clothes. Its a weakness of mine.

These lovely earrings above are from La Belle Vie.  I love the simple hand forged look of them.  My rings are from my shop, Maie Dae and a sweet gifted one from a friend.  Oh, and I tied some vintage trim into my braid.

Im very excited for tomorrow.  I get to see my bestie and her twin sister (who was my bestie in junior high) who now lives in california.  So looking forward to it.

PEACE,
Laura
