Things for the Soul >>>

This past week I started the Intuitive Heart Sanctuary with Lauren Luquin.  So far, I'm loving it.  Her vibe is very comforting, grounded, in tune and intentional.  Im looking forward to spending some time on this.  The journal below is what I created to keep all of my thoughts in.  Ill take some better pics of it, b/c this just doesn't show of how pretty it is.  It has been a while since Ive done a project like this, and it was so fun.  I use to create collages and art all of the time... and its something that has just fallen to the side of life.  As I watched the first video for the course, I sat outside with my morning coffee and birds.

Ive been working on fixing up the backyard more and more.  Im constantly re-arranging things.  I moved my little buddha arrangement from the ground onto a table with lots of rocks and petrified seashells surrounding it.  Im going to slowly add some pretty plants to it as well.  And I re-organized my porch shelf below as well.  Sometimes just some simple rearranging can really make a little space feel so new and fresh.  The backyard felt so nice at my party.  I wish I had taken some photos of it.  We are beginning to daydream about how we really want to fix the yard with little rock pathways, and a hammock, and more and more plants.  Im on a total plant buzz this year.  All I want to do is get new plants and learn them.

Even though its been murderously hot outside, Ive still been really enjoying this summer.  Bathing suit time and any chance I get to lay in the yard, or do something outside, Im a happy camper.  Im pretty much in love with the bathing suit I found on etsy, from Kioki.

Ive been meaning to post these for 2 weeks now.  When I stayed with my Nanna, my brother and his son Aiden came over and I played soooo much with Aiden.  We took pics of him next to all of Nanna's flowers.  It was so cute.  Nanna, Ill email you the rest b/c there are tons of them!!!  And I took pics of all of her flowers.  My favorite one is her passion vine.  I brought home a clipping and Im trying to keep it alive in the ground.  So far so good, but this heat is really making it struggle.  I pick the best times to try to transplant things!!!  I finally had to remove the caterpillar that came along for the ride with it.  For the first week I didnt have the heart to move it, b/c I knew it was loving the plant, but once half the leaves were gone and he was 4 times bigger, I realized I had to or I wouldn't have a plant!  So I gently moved him to the other side of the yard.  I took some awesome pics of him too, Ill share soon.  Ive kind of been photographing alot of insects lately.  I wish I could of got a photograph of the centipede we found during my bday party.  It was insane.  Life freakin crazy big.  I had heard hearsay about big ones, but always thought they were exaggerations... Nope!  They are for reals!!!  It was right out our front door too.  Creeps.

A Budding Garden >>>

Ive been wanting to get my garden started for months now... and its finally happening!  I didnt get everything I wanted, but for now, Im happy.  Ill slowly add to it as I can.  I got lots of tomatoes, bell peppers, rainbow chard, strawberries, basil, oregano, lavender, sage, naturtiums, hibiscus and some pretty flowers.  I also rearranged a bit and put some new bird seed planters out.  It felt so good to get my hands in the dirt yesterday.

And today, I knocked out the majority of my taxes!!!  Just a few odds and ends to complete, and waiting on a few numbers.  Im sure Im forgetting more than I think though, I always do.  Taxes are not my forte.  But I can see over the horizon now...  It feels good.  Oh, and James and his friend went to his parents river and dug up some awesome river rocks and brought them back and made a firepit in our backyard!  Im super excited to have some bonfires.  Even though winter is behind us, well still roast marshmallows in the summertime!!!  Its officially bbq season.

Pieces of Home >>>

Little pieces from around the homefront lately. Below youll see my little hoopers. I cant believe I caught both of them sitting inside my hoops on the same day! So so cute and funny.

10 pm and Im just now about to go do my 2nd day of yoga.  Some days dont go the way we plan, so we have to bend accordingly.  I think Ill do a fairly short and slow cool down session of yoga.  Ease myself into relaxation for the night.  The next few days are already filled up with to do's... so this little bit will help.  I did get in a bit of hooping today.  More just working on some arm tricks, but Im slowly getting it.  Its funny how hooping tricks are, you can mess up 100 times and then all of a sudden it just clicks when your not thinking about it.  I love that moment.  I broke down and bought a polypro hoop today.  Ive been holding off b/c we are trying to save money right now, but its something that is super important to me, so I finally just went for it.  I cant wait to get it in the mail in a few weeks.  To me, its beats a gym membership.  -- I also got a few plants in the dirt today.  The 10 minutes I had my hands in the dirt felt sooooo good!  Got me even more excited about our garden.

This month is going by soooo fast!  Ill try to do a post soon, but until then, my sponsorship spots for March are now open.  You can email me at violet_bella (at) hotmail (dot) com if you are interested in a spot.

 1.  This is the sketch I did a few days ago for my next tattoo.  I wanted to make something special just for my daddy.  He was a carpenter, and he made a saw handle that looked just like this (which is a classic old school style saw).  I added two feathers to represent my parents together, and the bottom flower is suppose to be a mountain laurel flower, which holds special meaning for me.  And the most important thing my parents taught me, build love.

 2.  Speaking of my parents, I must say that the friends they left behind are a testament to how amazing they were.  All of their friends always made me feel like I was their friend as well.  And during both of my parents deaths, their friends were right there by our sides.  Today I received this quilt in the mail from a dear friend of theirs, with a note telling me it was just a little something to let me know she thinks of me often.  Im completely speechless and in awe.  It is so beautiful.  And Bella has not removed herself from it all day long!

 3.  I woke up this morning to find it had frozen outside and my hibiscus plant my Nanna gave bit the big one.  Im so very sad about this.  Does anyone know if it will come back next year if it has frozen???  Im so sad.

 4.  I love the way the sun hits frost and makes it shine.  My porch looked pretty this morning.

 5.  My inscence holder and some burning sage, both gifted to me by two lovely ladies I met right here on this very blog.  Love this community!  It makes my house smell so good :)

 6.  Free people catalog.  Although I can never afford anything from here, I still love to oooo and ahhhh over all the pretties, and pretty girls, in the magazines...

 7.  My pony palm I got from my aunt, that I was smart enough to bring in a few weeks ago.  Im loving watching it grow.

 8.  Pieces of a custom christmas present I made.  Sorry I cant show the whole thing.  Maybe one day...

9.  My pine cones.  These were my moms.  She loved pine cones and gave me a love for them since I was a little girl.  We used to have a tree in front of our house that my friends dad planted that grew them.  I loved hunting for them with her.
