SOUL RETREAT

This monday morning I am feeling so much renewal happening.  Saturday I found myself stirring around early on in the day, not knowing which direction to go.  I felt the urge to paint, and nearly talked myself out of it.  This resistance I have been feeling lately.  Its been welllll over a year since Ive picked up a brush.  In all honesty, its probably been 2 or 3 years.  I finally fought through my resistance and grabbed all of my art supplies that have been hiding in boxes in the corners of my home.  I brought them all outside to the picnic table, along with some feathers and sage for inspiration.  I sat staring at the canvas for a while before I decided to just paint the feathers and sage.  I painted the whole canvas with lots of color.  Got frustrated, walked away, read my book in the hammock for a while, then came back to it, and painted cream all over the color.  I did this back and forth throughout the rest of the day.  But each time I came back with fresh eyes and it just flowed.  You can see from this pic, but in golden ink it says 'Cleanse my Heart to Soar my Soul'.  It felt like the title to the soul work Im doing right now.  I have some pretty heavy stuff in my heart that Im working on, and this felt like the beginning of the release.  Im so glad I gave myself this day.  (I thought I was going to be doing other things that day, so it felt good to embrace my saturday like a day off instead of just working through it).

I began re-reading a borrowed book from forever ago.  I kept putting it down before, and I realize now that it was all in due time.  Now is the time for me to read it.  I also started re-reading A New Earth.  So between all of these yummy thoughtful words, and allowing myself to open up in old artistic ways, I felt a softening in my heart, and the beginning of a release that is so very needed.  An active one, instead of a passive one.  (I also started playing with Hipstomatics new app for multiple exposures, so so fun!)

Then on sunday, our yoga meet turned into a morning brunch and riverside walk that was so much better!  My two girlfriends came and picked me up, and we all went and got some local coffee and then drove out to Tarpley for brunch at Mac N Ernies.  So so yummy.  It went from a hot sunny day the day before to feeling like winter outside saturday morning.  We all were bundled up from head to toe.  Then we went to my friend's new casa she is going to be fixing up, and took a 2 mile stroll along her riverside.  It was magical.  It didnt even feel like we were in Texas anymore.  It felt like we were in a different, more magic, spirit filled land.  We walked, and talked, and gathered treasures, and shared stories, and had moments of beautiful silence.  I found 'my rock'.  The first one I picked up.  And it's ironic to me that it is red.  I found so much meaning in such little things along the way.  I had also never felt so at home.  My ladies of the canyon (as robin so sweetly called us this morning).  Rock licking and synchronicity.  It was there.

Im left with a huge soulsigh.  Im wildly excited that these girls will be joining Katelyn and I in a few weeks to create an amazing new lookbook for The Bohemian Collective.  It will be a creative tribe for sure!

Here are just a few sneak peeks of some of the photos we took for the next Bohemian Collective lookbook.  These are ipod shots of images on my computer, so of course they are very grainy, discolored, and not full frame... the last one is a sneak of a shoot I did with Katelyn, which I will bring to the blog in a few days.  You can see a real sneak peek over on the collectives blog here.

Speaking of ipod, we might be going to get me an iphone today!!!  Technically in a few days it will be mine.  James phone is up for a super cheap upgrade, so hell be getting it, and then transferring over to my phone line a few days later.  Sweet man, huh??  Hell wait to get his until my phone is up for an upgrade sometime next year.  Im excited to join the iphone world.  I know how much I already love my little ipod, which before I had I thought I would not care for it... Dear instagram won my heart.  btw, my handle on instagram is lauramazurek, if you wanna follow along.
These are just camera pics we took from our first river adventure while Katelyn was here.  It was probably one of my favorite moments from the whole trip.  Katelyn has her work cut out for her with editing almost 300 photos for this lookbook.  Each time she sends me another edited shot, I get more and more excited for the release!  Its so hard to hold back sometimes!!!

River + Friends = The Good Life >>>

Summertime is finally starting to kick in high gear over here for us. We finally took Violet down to the river by our house for the first time since weve lived here. Last year the drought was so bad you couldn't hardly get in anywhere. But since we have had some nice rain this season, it is still flowing.  She loved it.  Her and her daddy did some rock climbing, and her and I went on a nature hunt walk.  The cliffs are so beautiful down there.  The photo below does not do them justice.  And there are tons of swallows that fly all around there.  I cant wait to one day do a creative photoshoot down there again.

I am loving my crochet bikini top from Motavations.  I also got a brown triangle style.  Love them both.  You can custom order them in larger sizes, which is what I had to do.  Such a super sweet girl behind this shop!  It makes me so happy when I come across other sellers who not only have quality product, but extremely good customer service and sweetness to go along with it.  She has it!

Yesterday we got together with some friends and went back down to the same river spot.  I didn't take my camera, so I don't have any pics... but goodness I need to invest in a waterproof camera.  All I could think about was taking pictures while I was in the river.  The sun was going down behind us and hitting everyone's hair in just the right way, it was killing me.  Oh, and we rode in the back of the truck down to the river, and the sun was shining through our hair blowing in the wind... I just wanted to capture the moment on video so badly.  Sometimes its almost hard for me to enjoy the moment (although I immensely did)... b/c my brain just sees pictures and light.  So anyway, we splashed around the water for a bit, then we all sat in the water with our beers (with the exception of james of course), and chatted till the sun went behind the cliffs and we all got hungry.  Then we went back to the house and grilled some Adolph burgers with Jonny spice.  The only way to eat a burger.  I know someone is going to ask... so Ill just explain.  Adolph's restaurant is james parents restaurant, and they sell the best burgers.  Our friend Jonny (the sweet boy on the right in the first two pics) created a crazy spice that we put on everything, so we call it Jonny spice.  The best combination in the world.

We listened to some music, grilled burgers, hula hooped, played guitar, sat by the campfire, drank some yummy beer, and just had a hell of a good time.  I love these guys so much.  Its such a good feeling to have friends you can completely be yourself with, all of the time.  I snapped some pics with each of these wonderful souls.  Then I put my camera away and enjoyed the night.

Laura

My Favorite Pinafore Jumper...

The other day I wore my adorable deer jumper.  It's still one of my favorite jumper's Ive ever made.  Not only is it so cute, it's soooo comfy.  And I love the relaxed feel of these jumpers when paired with a t-shirt and converse.

Yesterday afternoon was perfectly spent with two of our best friends, scouting out one of our river accesses in our new neighborhood.  I must go back down their with my camera.  It is way more amazing than I ever could have imagined.  It started of with a winding little rock step pathway leading down a cliff to the river.  One you get down there, there is a rock picnic table, a firepit and flat platform to hang out on.  And even a rope swing, even though the water is way too low for such fun yet!  We trucked down the river quite a ways and found some amazing cliffs.  I was so excited to see tons of swallows nests built on the cliffs!  I want to do a cool photoshoot there so bad.  The whole thing was beyond perfect.  And since its part of our community, it is not accessable to the public, so its super private!  A great day with friends.  And finally today we are seeing some much much needed rain!!!

PEACE,
Laura
