It's kind of funny... the color red and me.  For most of my life I have hated the color.  Minus when I was 15 and painted all of my walls the same color as my shirt above, maybe a shade or two red-er b/c I was obsessed with vampires and all sorts of other things of that nature.  As Ive grown older, I began to hate the color.  Especially the primary version of it.  (I should say I have always enjoyed versions of it, like the burgundy wine shades above)... Ive just been thinking about the color alot lately.  Since taking the e-course I am in called Blushing Wild, we began exploring the idea of this color.  Ive known for a long time my aversion to it is heavily linked to my root chakra and it's imbalance.  So, I have been exploring this further.  And since then, red seems to keep popping up.  The other day a sweet friend of mine randomly sent me a pair of lush red velvet bell bottoms in the mail, just the day after we had a discussion about the color in the course.  The best part... I was instantly invigorated by the site of them and deeply madly in love.  Little things like that keep coming up, and I'm taking notice.

Anyway, this little outfit above got me thinking about my relationship to the color red.  And I particularly love my wine on wine on wine ensemble.  Also, I'm quite head over heals with these high rise bell bottoms from Pylo.  I have never met a better jean.  They have the perfect stretch to them for being high rise.  Since I am a shorty I did have to hem the quite a bit, but they did not lose their amazing bell.  I wish they came in every color.  I have daydreamed about coming across the perfect pair of high rise vintage bells forever, and they are quite hard to stumble upon unless you want to pay a really pretty penny, which I don't.  Anyway, it's love.  Pure sweet denim love.  And they are helping me embrace my curves... ;)

WHEN LIFE MIRRORS LIFE

roots via rootsandfeathers.com

A couple of days ago we found the source of gnats in our house.  We couldn't seem to get rid of them no matter how clean we kept the house, kitchen and trash.  Then James noticed they were in my plants.  A few of them had become infested with them.  Most likely because I was not taking care of them properly.  I really have no clue what I'm doing when it comes to plants, its all just trial and error, and I have epically failed many times in my past.

I found myself uprooting several of my plants and starting them anew with clean pots and fresh soil.  I realized in the moment that this was a perfect mirror for how I felt inside.  Working deeply with my roots in my personal soul work.  Seeing where things need to be dug up, things that have been infested with bad habits, complacency of daily life when things really should be worked on to reach a deeper, and more life bearing place.  Seeing where I need to sprinkle fresh soil so that my roots are not soaking up the larva infested ways any longer.  Looking upon what needs to be more routinely maintained with love and nurturing so that it does not get to this infested place again.

Funny how a simple act of re-potting a plant can spur this kind of inner dialogue within myself.  Often it is in these mundane moments that life brings me the messenger.  I'm just glad I was in a state of awareness when the message was passed along.

MUSIC IS MAGIC

First Aid Kit
Willie Nelson
Jimi Hendrix
Donovan
Led Zeppelin
James Taylor
Pixies

The other day while cleaning house I filled the air with some of my favorite tunes on vinyl.  There is something about having that record spinning while you clean that is invigorating.  And thumbing through the shelves of vinyl to pick out which one you will play next...  I was enjoying it so much I documented it along the way.  These were my muses while I sparkled my nest.  Each one putting me in a new mood.  Music is magic like that.
