THREADS - AZTEC RUST

This is the little number I wore to my Nanna's birthday dinner.  I had planned on wearing this dress from Flying Tomato for christmas, but since I was feeling well, I opted for skinny cords and a sweater... I LOVE the color of this dress, I mean love.  I'm crazy for different brown tones.  And I adore the kaftan style, one of my favorites.  Its so lightweight.  It came with a blue belt that ties in a bow, but for this outfit I wanted to stick to the color palette.  I paired it with the beautiful deerskin belt from Sun & Glory that was featured in our last lookbook for The Bohemian Collective.  And speaking of lookbook pieces, the necklace was in the one before that... a beautiful one of a kind buffalo tooth necklace from Gypsies Caravan.  Two of my favorite designers.  And the bracelets are from 3 more of my favorite designers... Spirit Y Sol, Spiral Drift & Flourish Leather.  I will never stop loving accessorizing my outfits with beautiful handmade creations from people I truly believe in.  It feels so good to support other artisans doing what they love.  Knowing this path deeply within myself, I feel like we are in it together.  And... are these BC Footwear boots not the most perfect thing with this dress?  Eeek!  I think they were secretly made for each other.

Love this dress?  Or any of the other beautiful items found at Flying Tomato?  Come back later for an amazing giveaway from them!!!  Today is the last day to get 20% off their entire site!

THREADS - EMERALD & BLUE

I think I could say at the beginning of every fall outfit post, that I LOVE fall fashion!  This was such a simple outfit, but the colors made it so fun.  These blue velvet skinnies from Threadsence are still some of my all time favorite pants.  And I'm so thrilled I finally have some of boots that fit over my jeans!  These suede boots from Blowfish are some of my new favorites.  They are just the perfect everything, and so so comfy!  I love how they equally compliment pants or a dress/skirt.  This top from F21 is the only emerald piece of clothing I have.  I quite love the color.  It's a very stretchy cozy sweater like material.  My trio of braided leather bracelets are from Flourish Leather.  She has an amazing assortment of colors, and they are so fun to mix and match with different outfits.  (Her shop is closed right now since they just had a new baby!!  Congrats Danielle!)  The necklace is a custom one I made for a mother of four.  I love how it turned out.  She wanted something that gave her a 'warrior' feel and that represented her four children.  I love it so much, I think I'm going to introduce a similar style to the shop!  Oh, and this amazing picnic table... my daddy made it, and painted it rainbow color.  Its fading, but I love it all the more.

In other news, those of you who follow me on facebook might have seen some changes going on over there.  When I started on facebook, I used my personal account as my business account as well.  It has grown so big, I have found facebook to not be a fun place for me anymore.  So many status updates of people I don't know or connect with, and so much negativity.  I'm finding this is a place I'd like to ween myself from, in many ways.  I have decided to delete most of the people from my personal page, and just keep family and friends I truly connect with.  I'm encouraging everyone to please follow my fanpages, Roots and Feathers & The Bohemian Collective instead.  I'm going to be more active over in those spaces from now on, with more visual updates on what is going on.  I have already deleted a few hundred from my personal page, with a few more to go.  This has been such a push and pull thing to do.  I feel so bad, and hate to dismiss anyone, but its something I just need to do for myself.  But I don't want anyone to miss out on anything, or feel a disconnect with what I'm doing creatively.  So in a way, Im just switching gears with how I operate my business on facebook.  So please follow me over on my fanpages for updates from now on.  Thank you :)

THREADS - SNAKE EYES

This is what we wore the night before our anniversary, when we went on our pizza date.  James let me snap a photo of him.  That doesn't happen very often...  I pretty much was in love with the combo of this outfit.  I picked up this skirt at goodwill a few weeks ago, and my friend Staci from A Ruby Rosebud came over and helped me turn it into a hi-lo skirt, from a long granny skirt.  I love it now!  I think the hi-lo style is my absolute favorite.  Im realizing how much I love layering my harvest moon top from Lune Vintage with florals or patterns with color.  Remember this outfit?  And anyone who has been following for a while knows how much I love this fringe vest from f21.  I layer it with so much!  The spark for this entire outfit through was these amazing boots from BCFootwear, (they are called snake eyes).  Someone commented on my instagram pic of them asking if they made these just for me!!  Ha, I think they did subconciously.  They are absolutely perfect boots.  Each pair they hand distress to give them a vintage worn feel.  I accessorized with this amazing antler necklace from Run With The Tribe, and a discontinued bracelet from Flourish Leather.

We had a really nice date that night at Fralo's pizza.  It was jam packed with people.  We stood to get a table for almost an hour!  But we enjoyed ourselves.  I think we have now gone to Fralo's for our anniversary for 4 our of 5 years... I think.  James is off for an entire week right now.  We are taking care of some things out at my dad's house, running errands, getting ready for company all weekend, and friday I'll be getting my tattoo sleeve finished!  Im so excited.  It's been paid for since my last session which was well over a year ago.  The week has filled up quick with to-do's, so I hope James feels like he actually gets a little break from work by the time its over...

Here's to another beautiful fall day.  Loving this weather!

Threads - Beating The Blues >>>

This girl has not been out of her pj's in a week.  And most days, she didnt even brush her teeth until the afternoon.  Yep.  That was me this week.  Finally today, I decided to come out of my cocoon.  Were just going over to some friend's house, but I felt like putting on some makeup and jewelry and my lovely new Blowfish sandals, and breaking out my camera.  Ive come to realize, that although outfit posts are really just silly ol' things, that sometimes, they really can make a girl feel better.  Sometimes dressing up and feeling your self worth in front of the camera, is good for your soul.  And I definitely feel that the clothes we wrap around our bodies each day have an affect on us, as dumb as that may seem.  It is yet another way of self expression, an artform if you will.  Just another extension of saying how we feel about ourselves.  And when we feel good about ourselves, we tend to do better, feel better, and in turn, treat people better, not to mention treat ourselves better.  I can say, that just by getting myself dressed today, I already feel better.  This can be one of the downfalls of working at home.  You can go days without caring if you are so inclined.  And after a long period, it starts to wear on you everytime you look in the mirror.  So, here is my little pick me up.  To remind myself after a week of feeling really blah, that Im not
