This weeks behind the scenes...

First of all, I want to say a big genuine thank you to everyone who left a comment on my last post for Violet.  The love was really felt.  She has been home since this morning, and is adjusting to being inside all day okay so far.  She has slept most of the day.  She doesnt seem to be acting like she is feeling really bad, so that made me feel better.  She was definitely happy to be home.  So thank you, and Ill keep you posted along the way!

We left our movie pallet on the floor from last weekend up all week.  Bella loves it.  There is a corner of the quilt that she just freaks out on out of nowhere, and gets all frisky.  Its so cute.  She was just looking way too adorable to not snap some photos of the other day.  Do you spy her daddy napping on the couch in the background?  he he.

Im kind of always snapping random photos around the house with my phone now.  Im a bit obsessed with my phone camera.  Ive collected a bunch of sticks for my dreamcatchers.  I love walking in the woods picking just the right ones.  And everytime I catch a glance at my mom's dreamcatcher, it makes me happy.  Its so big and beautiful.

We had to go back to the sprint store two more times this past week, so we went to our favorite coffee shop close by both times.  It was weird going there 3 times in less than 2 weeks b/c we usually only get to go every other month or so.  It was fun!  and yummy...  We are still in the middle of trying to figure our internet stuff out.  Our first bill was outrageous!  So we are debating, but not really getting anywhere with it.  So between that and little miss violet's vet bill, this month has been insanely expensive.  Not to mention, I think I broke our coffee maker this morning, and my car battery died again this morning.  This has not really been our week,  at all.

Fortunately, I had lots of things to package up and ship off.  I actually brought it over to the kitchen table so I could keep it organized.  I love having a nice clean space to ship from.  It drives me nuts when I have too much stuff going on and my desk is all messy and then I have to ship!  And I love my new feather stamp!  Im still waiting for my Roots and Feathers cards to get here, so for now everyone is getting Violet Bella cards :)

And, um.... I wore my Doors shirt again!  Can somebody please come over here and pry it off of me???  I could probably wear this shirt every day of my life and be happy.  And its made me realize how much I love grey.  And yep, Im wearing SAS shoes, no offense nanna, but they are old lady shoes, ha ha.  But i LOVE them!  They are so comfy!  And this necklace is about to be listed in my Roots and Feathers shop!

And we finally had our movie night with friends!  We watched Pulp Fiction, had yummy adult beverages and ate caramel popcorn.  Pretty perfect.  Jen, Jonny & Tia are some of our best friends.  We always feel so at ease when we are around them, and James talks more than Ive ever heard him talk in my life when he is around them, its so cute.  They are always up for any kind of adventure and have just about the sweetest hearts Ive ever known.  Love them.

My birthday is in one week, I just realized!  It will be my last year in my 20's!!!  Time to start planning a party!

PEACE,
Laura

Yesterday's behind the scenes...

Im so excited to have completed the photoshoot for Roots & Feathers yesterday.  It came out completely different than I had envisioned, but I think just as cute in the end.  Big relief to have it done.  Now just editing and putting it all together for a lookbook!  It took up so much of my time yesterday that today will be spent making up the things I did not get done.  All custom orders will be getting done this week!!!  Oh, and now that I have my own phone with a good camera on it, Im a bit obsessed, I took 68 camera pics yesterday, eeeekkkk!!!!

*snuggles with the most adorable pup in the world*

In this pic below you will see my new curtains!!!  Love them so much.  A sunflower in my tiny garden!  Its so tall.  My new business cards!!!  They match my new blog look and I love love love them.  And a huge feather I found in our driveway yesterday.

Peeks from the photoshoot yesterday.  I had a whole bucket of clothes to choose from.  Fun fun stuff!  Sometimes it is quite challenging being the model, photographer, make up artist, wardrobe stylist, set designer, etc etc all at once.  It can get overwhelming.  I pretty much have to do shoots like this when I am by myself with no distractions.  And since it takes alot of guesstimating you have to take several shots to get one good one.  But in the end, I am in control of all creative direction which means it is all my own vision, so whether its good or bad, only I can take the credit or the fall.

And of course after all of the crazyness, I just had to get silly

And the rest of the day quickly became a tshirt and jeans day.  I love my new little Doors tee that I scored at the thrift store a few days ago.  Ive kind of worn it everyday since.

Our friends were not able to make it over last night for our Tarentino movie night.  So James and I took advantage of the pallet on the floor I had made and sprawled out and ate our homeade pizza and watched tv, with Bella by our side.  It was nice!

A super good productive day it was.  Now to find some more energy to do it again today.  Eeeeeekkk, I just realized my birthday is two weeks!  Time to start planning...

PEACE,
Laura

Closet &Jewelry Display Re-Vamp

A few days ago I got in a new year's cleaning mood, and completely re-organized all of the clothes in my closet, and my jewelry display... a much needed cleanout.  I pulled out all of the clothes in my closet that I dont wear very often, but just cant seem to let go of, and put them all into large plastic tubs at the bottom of my closet, so I can still get to them easily.  And I even packed away all of my vintage purses, which makes me a bit sad, but my house is so cluttered, I desperately need to start cleaning up in ALL areas.  I have way too much stuff for our tiny house!

While I was organizing all of the clothes in my closet, I was so inspired by seeing all of the beautiful textiles together.  My closet is so full of pretty fabrics, I just love it!  So different from my *almost* all black wardrobe in high school.

And my jewelry display was so in need of a re-vamp.  It pretty much looks similar to the way I had it before, just updated with the jewelry that I actually wear all of the time.  I packed away all of the stuff that had been up there for years and not really touched.  I love how simple changes like this can make things feel so fresh in your home.  The main jewelry display is part of an old piano.  It had four large square holes in it, and I backed it with pretty scrapbook paper.  I just love it for hanging my jewelry on!
Now all of the jewelry displayed is things I wear on a daily basis, along with a few pieces that are just super special to me, which are the ones on the purple and blue board hanging from the oversized skeleton key.  It includes the first necklace James bought me, a little owl necklace that was thrifted in austin during our honeymoon, the necklace I bought for my wedding day (although it was not worn), and a handmade trinket necklace that is full of my mother's sentimental things.  I love having my pretties out wear I can see them everyday!

How do you display your jewelry?

Laura

Pieces of Days

Just a few mini collages from the phone pics...

random things around the house
bits of my obsession with clothes
and of course, my wild obsession with feet
We spent the evening helping James parents put up christmas lights in their restaurant. I enjoyed it so much. James momma has a broken foot right now, so I decorated the huge christmas tree for her. I loved every second of it. James helped his dad hang all the lights in the windows. Its really starting to feel like christmas.
