THREADS // IT STILL FITS

via rootsandfeathers.com

I took these a few weeks ago, I think when I was a little over 20 week pregnant.  I was so excited to find out that this romper still fits me!  You can see a pre-pregnancy post in it here.  I have not had to buy very many pregnancy clothes at all.  I got two pairs of jeans with the band on top and a few tanks tops to wear under other shirts, and one actual maternity top that I'll still be able to wear after pregnancy.  Ive been able to utilize things from my previous closet pretty well so far!  Which is great b/c it leaves more room for me to spend that money on the cutest little baby clothes!  Ha ha.  I'm going to have to much fun dressing little Ava.

It's hard to believe that in just a little over 3 months she will be here in our arms.  I'm getting anxious and nervous.  Well be taking Birthing From Within classes this spring, and I'm about to start preparing for baby shower and blessingway details... It's all going to start happening so fast.  My belly is growing each week.  Some days I feel beautiful and some days I feel huge.  I measured 23" at my 23 week midwife appointment so I know I'm right where I should be.  I think it's just part of being a short girl... there is not a whole lot of torso room!  Her kicks and movements are getting stronger and stronger, and we can see my belly move and bump from the outside now!  It's so cool.  She has already helped me so much with putting things in life in perspective as far as what is important and what is not.

Her room is looking so cute.  It just needs her crib and some art that I have picked out.  We still have a million things around the house we want to get done before she arrives.  Little by little it's getting done.  I'll never forget this period of my life...

Hello babes!  New Moon, Monday, A New Day.  I have been super off with my blogging lately b/c life has filled me up between working on the magazine and personal stuff.  After having one of the worst migraines of my life the other day, I really got serious about looking deeper into some health issues that have been concerning me for a while.  I am taking action through diet & lifestyle changes, and made an appointment for a whole body checkup and to talk to my doctor about getting a full panel blood work done up.  I spent a day pretty stressed out about it all, but I feel like I'm taking the appropriate road and will keep on this journey to total wellness one day at a time through making the correct choices for myself.  I feel like this journey started about a year ago with my breakdown of realizing I was working too hard and needed to find more balance in my life.  I feel like I have really found that over the course of the past year, but now it's time to focus on other internal issues, while still keeping that balance of work and rest.  So though I may not being showing up to my blog as much as I'd like, and I have fallen way behind on collaborations and commitments I have made to many people, hopefully everyone will understand.  It will all get done in right timing, I'm sure of it.  Same with the magazine.  If it takes me a little longer than I want to get it out, so be it.  I'm not willing to throw my health out of balance for anything right now.  I'm taking it very seriously this time around.

As for this lovely outfit, I'm super sad this dress isn't available anymore bc it's so wildly comfy, but ppla has lots of other cute & cozy attire.  Same with these booties... Ive had them for a few years now and still love them.  The gorgeous necklace from wandering bones & leather jewelry from oli rose is still available though!

This little corner of my home is still my favorite nook.  I love the lighting that comes through the window.  It's now Banjo's favorite spot too.  He sits by the windowsill and looks out at the birds and bugs.  He loves it a night when the bugs come out on the window.  This windowsill is full of old bottles, crystals and knick knacks and he is so good about knocking things over.  I'm really surprised by this actually!  He is growing and changing so much.  We are so wildly crazy about him!!!  I'll have to share an update about him soon.

I'm hoping I can find a new balance and check in here more often that I have been... but if not, you know why.  xoxo

What a special week this has been... Monday the show we have been waiting on to come out for 9 months featuring our shirt was aired on the Travel Channel. James and I had our 8 year anniversary on tuesday.  We have a very simple day.  We went to the plant nursery, went to one of our favorite restaurants, stopped to see our friends in Boerne while were in town, and then just spent the rest of the day lounging around home.  Oh, and we started the day with the yummiest french toast!  Then yesterday was the first day of autumn, my favorite season, and special to us b/c we got married on the Autumn Equinox.  Equinox's are always special energy to me anyway.  We entered another Mercury Retrograde last week, which I have learned to love b/c of KV from Aquarius Nation.  A time to really turn inward, weed out the past and clean house, so to speak.  And a very special full moon coming up in just a few days... It has been hard for me to focus on work, although I have had to tackle TONS of emails b/c they are just piling up like crazy.

Working on this next magazine issue, I have really been learning to just lay my own timelines down and go with the flow.  It seems as if everyone is feeling behind... It's such a collaborative effort in sharing so many artists creations, writing, images, etc... and without them, I would not have a magazine.  So it's teaching me patience and love of the process.  Good thing I'm only creating two magazines a year!  I remember feeling this way with the last one, and in the end it all worked out okay and only came out two weeks later than I had originally planned.  So I will keep that memory in my mind as a reflection of how things work out.

I am looking forward to spending time with my family this saturday.  It's been too long since weve all been together.  I am feeling grateful for grocery shopping today and getting lots of nourishing foods.  Ive been thinking alot about how Ive been treating my body the past few months.  It's such a rollercoaster journey with me when it comes to eating really good and doing good things for my body, my one and precious vessel.  It's time I wake up and do it some good again.

By the way, I love this outfit. :)

As I was uploading these images the Typo Negative song Black No. 1 popped into my head, haha.  It's been years since Ive heard that song, but it was like my anthem when I was 15.  Funny how stuff comes back to you like that.  I wore this outfit last friday when James and I went on a date.  It had been so long since we had gone out just for fun, and it was so needed.  When your in a relationship for a long time, inevitably there are highs and lows.  And during the lows it can be so important to get back to the two of you.  It can be hard sometimes with all the day to day stuff going on, and for us, weve had alot of big emotional changes happen in our life over the past 8 years weve been together.  Working through these times together is challenging, and can even rock your foundation.  When that happens, its time to start building it back up, brick by brick.  Getting out of our day to day space is big for us, especially for me b/c I'm home all day everyday.  I can tend to be a big hermit, literally only going to the post office for weeks on end.  So when we do get out to do something other than grocery shop, its always a nice detour from the daily.

I haven't been on my blog as much as I'd like the past few weeks.  I'm in full on makeover mode in my studio and back room.  I'm redoing my studio from the ground up and it's been a huge task to weed out the things I don't use or need anymore.  I'm a bit (alot) of a packrat.  Ive been PURGING.  Getting rid of things left and right.  And I'm still not done.  Now I want to do every room in my house again.  It has been so freeing.  I have a full size couch piled sky high in our garage of things I'm letting go of.  I'll share the makeover when I'm done!  And Ill be sharing pics on my instagram through the process.  Ive never done a whole room makeover before.  Ive rearranged my rooms hundreds of times, always using everything I already own, which is pretty much all stuff that's been handed down to me.  It's exciting to create my dream studio space.  Eeeekkkk!!!  I can't wait to sit down and create my next magazine in this fresh space!
