CALM-A-MAMA // SWEET DREAMS

I recently added Calm-A-Mama's Sweet Dreams Insomnia Blend to my nighttime routine.  Lately Ive been sleeping alot better, but for a while there I could not quiet my brain and would literally lay there for hours before falling asleep.  I use a combo of things now when my nights start to go like that, starting with a hot bath and relaxation before bedtime.  I also will take a Calm Drop or Moon Drop about 30 minutes before bed, and spritz my pillow before I lay down with Reiki Rain's Guardian Mist.  This tincture above has been a wonderful addition to my routine.  It tastes wonderful, which is a plus, as not all tinctures do.  It's very subtle and doesn't make you feel funny at all.  Just helps relax your mind at the end of a busy day.  I think my biggest challenge is turning off my brain.  Ive tried reciting mantras, or numbers, along with deep breathing, and my mind still wanders.  Sometimes those things work, and sometimes they don't.  Luckily I don't battle severe insomnia like many people do.  It tends to come and go, and if I pay attention to my cycles I can battle it pretty easily with a little intention and forethought.

Calm-A-Mama focuses on remedies for Mamas, but all of her blends are great for us non-mamas too!  So don't be fooled by the name :)  Although once motherhood comes to me, I may be looking here for other blends!  I'm currently waiting for her Focus Drops to come back in stock!

It feels like the last few weeks life has taken so many turns and has kept me on my toes as far as getting what I thought I would be able to get done... It feels like Ive been going through a whole season of lessons in letting go and going with the flow of life.  With a whole magazine to create, it has been hard to let go of alot of timelines, but in the end, even though it won't come out on the originally planned date, I know it will still be a beautiful product that will be worth the wait.  Once again it has also reminded me that at some point I really need to put a whole team together to make this baby run smoother.  Alot of details for one person to handle and keep on a perfect timeline.  So, with keeping this in perspective, I am NOT going to beat myself up for any failed deadlines or twists and turns that come about, and I WILL remind myself everyday that when it is released will be the perfect timing that was suppose to happen all along.  This is art after all.  I know Ive kind of already talked about this here before, but writing it out, even a million times if I need to, helps me.  Alot of times I find when I write here on my blog, I process alot of things that come up in my mind.

Today some changes in plans have occurred since before I even woke up.  James couldn't make it to work b/c he was not feeling well.  He went to bed not feeling well and woke up the same.  Then while he was getting ready for work, before he fully decided he wasn't going to make it in, he dropped his phone and shattered it.  So now, we have to go get it fixed today, which means one more day of not getting to my list.  This is kind of how things have gone for weeks now.  Every time I think I'm going to have a day to really get in here and focus on the magazine or custom orders, something happens and throws the day off.  Whether its something like a phone breaking, or waking up with a migraine, etc.  It may just be the universe making me take my time on things so that this magazine will come out on a certain day, who knows!  I do believe things work in mysterious ways like that.

Anyway, this post has nothing to do with this beautiful outfit above.  It was from a nice day though!  James took the photos for me, which doesn't happen too often, so that was fun.  Then afterwards we took a nature walk down by our river.  The weather was so beautiful and it was such a nice day.  And isn't this dress beautiful?  Such a pretty color!

FREDRICKSBURG TRADE DAYS

via rootsandfeathers.com

This past weekend we went to the Fredricksburg Trade Days to meet up with James family.  I hadn't been out there in a few years.  I used to go every year for a while b/c my parents would set up their jewelry booth there.  My favorite part of the whole place is the junkyard in the back.  Full of creepy doll heads, it looks like you are walking straight into a horror film.  And this day was foggy and dewy which only gave it a heightened sense of horror.  It was awesome!  I would love to do a photoshoot there sometime!

I found these beautiful treasures among the junkyard, except for the macrame, that was in a booth, but it was only $5!  Beautiful gems...  One of my favorite things in the world to do is go antiquing, thrifting, junking.  Scouring through was looks to be old discarded junk to find treasures.  God I love it.

FREE PEOPLE FESTIVAL DAY

This day goes down in the books as one of the best days ever.  Not just because of all the fun stuff going on, but both James and I just felt really good, and just enjoyed the whole day together.  I actually only took about 4 photos the whole day b/c we were just in the moment, which is great.  Most of these other people took.  My favorite is the one above by our new friend Kate Kelly.  Speaking of new friends, we met so many people and fell in love with them all.  Every person we chatted with was so sweet.  We felt like we walked away with a handful of new friends more than anything.

They decorated the place so lovely.  I'm sad I didn't get more photos of the set up before the rain started coming down b/c they did such a great job with the decor.  The coffee/thrift shop it was set up at, Friend and Neighbors was really cute.  I can't wait to go back sometime so I can actually browse the shop and sit and enjoy some coffee by their teepee.

They set up the bands in this shed b/c of the 100% chance rain, which actually did happen.  Everyone crammed in their for the 4 bands that played, and sadly I didn't get to see any of them play b/c of that.  The sound was so muffled on the outside from everyone being in there that you couldn't really enjoy the music even from the outside... but it didn't really matter b/c we were just enjoying getting to know people the whole time anyway.  I squeezed myself into the back of it for Jamestown Revival so I could hear the music, but couldn't see a thing, and was sadly standing next to a group of people who talked the whole way through them playing.  But I got to chat with the guys before they went on, and was surprised to know that they remembered who we were after only meeting them once at their show in San Antonio about a year & 1/2 ago.  That was pretty cool in my book b/c I'm sure they meet alot of people on the road.  They are such nice guys.

Our favorite part of the night was getting to chat with the girls from La Colombe, Kathryn & Kate.  They are the sweetest people ever and made us feel right at home (even though they are from Philly and were in our backyard)... we pretty much chatted the day away with them.  We haven't announced it yet, but there is some very exciting things in the works with these guys and us, and we can't wait to share.  The whole day was so serendipitous and felt like the stars had been aligning for a very long time to make it happen.

Afterwards we met up with our friends Katie and Justin for some grub.  We were going to eat at the restaurant with the bright teal wall... We went in, order waters, took a look at the menu, and decided it was not the place for us!  We felt so bad, but we had to skip out and go somewhere else.  We ended up going to a great little mexican place for tacos and were so glad we did.  I just love these guys.  We chatted so much it felt like we were only together for like 10 minutes before we had to leave them!  Good good people.  You should check out their etsy shops, Star Native & Starchaser Woodworks.

It was a day Ill never forget for so many reasons.  We are so thankful for the universe aligning for us to be there.
