Threads - Date Night with my Bestie >>>

Last night I went out with my bestie for a girls night out.  I was pretty much jonesing for her all week and after waking up yesterday morning and realizing it was the day we were going out, I was excited all day.  I love my time with her when its just us, which is rare it seems.  So I soak it up when I can.  I swear she is the only person I know that when Im around her a whole different side of me comes out.  I talk ninety miles an hour, laugh alot and just get silly.  And I think b/c it is so seldom that we get that time together, that when we do, it just all pours out.  I love it.  I love her.

I was thrilled that some new things came in the mail just in time to wear!  My grandparents gave me a visa giftcard for xmas.  I really had high hopes to save it for dirt.  Im soooo ready to start gardening.  But the shopping bug got the best of me and I scored a group of super lovely clothes.  Couldnt help myself.  I got this lovely sweater top and hi-lo skirt from Forever 21.  And two of my new favorite pieces of artisan jewelry... an arrowhead ring from Moorea Seal and a crystal protector pouch from Spiral Drift.  I just came across this shop b/c the lovey owner was following me on Instagram.  Im so glad I did.  Its soooo good I almost dont want to tell you about it!  You know, like keep it my little secret.  But I love to share the love... so I cant.  Im eyeing several other pieces from her already.  And can I just say... this is a rare gem.  Her packaging blew me away and felt so special.  I try to do this with my packages, so I know the love that goes into it, but this girl almost made me cry with how special it was.  That speaks volumes to me.  The love and craft that goes into her work is soooo apparent.  I kept the stone she sent in the pouch, and I also added a mountain laurel seed since they have special connection to my mother.
Im still so very much in love with my Blowfish boots... I think I will wear these until they fall apart!!!

Today I must give some love to my house.  Its is that time again.  I think Im going to start by listening to this mix I made a good while back on Grooveshark.

PEACE,
Laura

A Simple Way to Dress up Jeans >>>

I put together the perfect outfit the other day. By simply layering a sheer top (forever21) over a simple tank (Skyline Fever) and jeans outfit, it went from being kind of boring to just the right amount of comfort and style in one. And actually was even more comfy then just the jeans and tank b/c Im not much of a tank girl most of the time. So the kimono top was an extra layering of sheer comfort. Paired with my Blowfish flats = perfection. I really really enjoy the process of putting outfits together. I always have. And when you find something that just works on every level for yourself, that is golden!  I wore my Nanoukiko necklace again, which is the least amount of jewelry Ive worn in a long time.  Every now and then I love to just let one simple piece stand out.  I think this will be my go to outfit when Im in a funk and need some comfort but still want to feel good.  Ive had these jeans for about 10 years now and still love them!
*because I get asked alot -- the curtains are from World Market and the macrame owl was thrifted*

Do you have a go to outfit that is your comfort???  Oh, and speaking of Blowfish shoes, you should check out my last post to see some of their amazing new styles!!  You can get this print above in a wedge now!  Holy moly!

Threads - Stripes Stripes Stripes >>>

Yesterday the boy and I went on a date, just for the heck of it.  He asked me a few days ago if I wanted to, and of course I said yes!  We both had some gift cards to spend in a few special places so that was on our list of to do's.  I got a really pretty shirt at Anthropologie!!!  We listened to Nirvana the whole way there, it was fun and nostalgic.  We of course got some Starbucks, although we always wish there were a more down to earth local option around, but that is not the case around us.  The one coffee shop we have in our town that we would go to closes at 2:30 everyday!  Way too early if you ask me.  Then we grabbed some pear and procuitto pizza at our fav pizza place.  All in all it was a nice night spent with my boy.  I think its way important to take time out with your main squeeze when you can!

I wore a new favorite outfit too, full of striped goodness.  I scored this awesome shirt from The Rocker Shop on etsy a few weeks ago.  Love it!  My favorite outfits are ones that are super cute, but equally as comfortable, like this long tee with leggings, ahhh... It was cold out so I layered up.  I wore my striped Noni beanie.  You can find these through Poor Pitiful Pearl during select times.  Her hubbies sweet grandmother makes them, how cool is that!! She just happens to have a few in the shop right now, which is rare, so grab one if you see one you cant live without b/c they dont last long!!!  I also just got this darling necklace in the mail from Natacha of Nanoukiko.  I love the colors of it... I wore it again today. (She is offering 25% of everything in her shop to my readers this month, see details under the sponsor spots).  And.... do you see this amazing bracelet adorning my wrist????  I freaked when I first saw Danielle of Flourish Leather release these babies.  So so beautiful.  She so kindly gifted me one, because she is stellar like that!  I love it.  Have worn it every day since I got it.  Eeeekkk!  (I also wore my simple gray braided one from her too).  And of course, my fav Blowfish boots... cant get enough of these babies.

Laura

The Universe Is Infininte - Daily Threads >>>

James surprised me with this dress from Jessalin Beutler that says The Universe Is Infinite on it.  I love almost everything in her shop.  Very simple but striking designs.  Im personally not a huge fan of tank dresses (or tank tops most of the time), but fall is a great time to utilize pieces like this with layers.  I always have to think past just the fact that its a tank something or another... He also surprised me with these amazing teak wood earrings by Christine Domanic.  They were love at first sight and Ive had them on my mental wishlist for a long time now.  I have one sweet hubby!  I also wore my favorite silver knuckle ring and leggings from Forever 21, my moms beaded necklace and her moccasin boots, and a simple black cotton cardigan.  (I cant help but think how cute a baby bump would be under this dress :)
I look like my mom in this photo above.  Something about the face Im making reminds me of her.

We went to our friends house last night to do our christmas with them.  As always it was such a welcoming time and they made dinner for us from scratch!  We got the sweetest gifts and enjoyed being with them.  I even played around on Jonny's new bass guitar.  I had so much fun and I kind of surprised myself.  Now James wants to get me a bass, ha ha!  My mom always told me she could play a ZZTop album on bass, but I never heard her.

See that amazing pea green woven table runner???  Gifted to me by a dear friend who knows my style even more than me it seems!  Love.

The past few days my brain feels like its in a fog.  I know its b/c of all of the junk Ive ingested.  I feel like I need a deep cleanse soon.  James has been feeling the same way.  Goodbye holiday sugar coma!  Im over you.

ANNOUNCEMENT:  Only a few days left to snag a sponsor spot for January, only medium and small ads left.  Check out the sponsor info button on the right side for more info!
