Threads - Tom Boy >>>

Yesterday's outfit was one of my favorite kind of outfits.  To me, this is like peanut butter and jelly.  Comfort.  These shorts are some of my favorites... and they are a pair of my hubby's old jeans that I cut off.  I recently got this Mandolin Orange shirt, which is also a guys tee, and cant seem to take it off when Im at home.  I really wanted this color and they only had it in mens, so I just got the mens small, and its perfect.

... a little mandolin orange for you...

It's pouring rain outside right now.  We are on our second big thunderstorm of the week.  Its definitely messed up all my plans for the photoshoot I was going to do for my big project... which will push its launch date back... BUT we need it so bad, so all I can do is rejoice for our land, plants and animals.  With the hot hot summer ahead of us, we could use a really good soaking before hand.  Thunderstorms do something magical for my soul.  Everything gets kind of dark, the house gets dark inside... and I tend to not turn on as much music, and just listen to the sounds going on outside.  Its soothing.  Sort of recharging in a sense that it forces you into a bit of downtime.  A little less active, and more in tune with your immediate surroundings.  Since I cant focus on my project, I think Im going to create by the windows in my studio today.  Maybe work on some brand new things... who knows!  And make some hot tea.  Ill definitely be staying in my pjs as long as possible... at least until we have to go to town this afternoon.

PEACE,
Laura

Threads - Feather Dress >>>

Im here today with a sweet spring outfit. Still loving this inbetween seasonal time... before everyone in Texas just wants to start ripping their clothes off b/c its sooo hot!  I got this cute feather dress from my friend's closet sale a while back, I think it is just darling.

I know Ive had way more outfit posts than usual lately and that I havent had as many 'real' posts, ones where I share my heart about the real stuff in life.  My soul is in a spring season right.  I feel like Im going right along the medicine wheel without even giving any thought to it, just living it.  My mind and hands are very active right now.  I feel like this winter I planted lots of seeds in my soul to keep me on a path of healing, and right now my healing is in doing what I love to the fullest.  Im working behind the scenes passionately on a huge project, one that involves alot of creative energy, alot of people, and one Im just bursting to share with you!  But Im also realizing that great things take time, and although Im usually one to just bust something out when I get on fire and then throw it out there in the world to take as it is... this one is one I want to make sure is just right before I throw it out there.  Its one that wont just affect me, but hopefully tons and tons of people.  So... while you may just being seeing lots of cute outfits, random pics from my phone, and things I eat, ha ha, there is so much more going on in the background.  And honestly, my soul is ever so grateful to be in the state of creation, and not one of just pure longing and searching.  Im setting that aside, and allowing other things to grow, right along with the flowers of spring.  Before we know it, they will all be gone, and will be replaced with burnt grass from the sun shining so brightly.  So while we are in this gentle spring, Im sailing right along with you, mother nature.  So much we can learn from this great healer.

Threads - Lulu's.com Little Black Dress >>>

 Girl... you'll be a woman soon...  those Neil Diamond lyrics instantly pop in my head when I think about being a woman...  (and the lovely scene where Uma Thurman dances to it in Pulp Fiction while Urge Overkill covers it)...  Well, this little black dress that you see below, from Lulu's.com brought this feeling into perspective to me.  There have only been a few times in my life where I really felt like a woman.  I think being only 5' tall, and checkers still always thinking Im 18 years old has a little to do with it.  Every now and then Ill do a lookbook shoot or something like that, and when I see the girl on the computer looking back at me, Ill think she looks like a woman.  Maybe that feeling will really kick in when I bare children?  Or turn 50, ha ha.  Im not sure.  But all that being said... (and not that feeling like a woman really has anything to do with dressing sexy at all)... I found myself having a bit of a hard time b/c this adorable little black dress really does not allow you to hide that side of yourself, unless of course I draped it with a sweater!  Half way through the shoot, I had a little moment within myself.  Realizing Im going to be turning 30 years old in 2 months, I had no reason to not embrace my sexyness and womanhood... Do you ever have a hard time embracing that side of yourself? ...Im sure you will be seeing this dress pop up in a few artistic photoshoots in the future b/c it is just so rad.

Threads - Handmade Casual >>>

Yesterday was another jeans and tee day...but just by having your tee be a fun PPP one, instantly makes your outfit feel not so drab.  I sent this plain olive tee to Shauna, along with amazing fabric you see on the sleeves (it was a funky old vintage dress I found at goodwill, but I adored the pattern).  She does amazing custom work... so look at your old t's in a new way and send them over to her!  Look in her shop, she has 51 different kinds of customs!!!  Holy Smokes!  She also just revamped her blog and it really fits her style now.  I also love wearing my O Bella Organics headwraps like a messy turban.  She just came out with a beautiful new circle scarf.  I just love her simple style and amazing colors...  In with my necklace mix is a blue beaded one from Nanoutriko.  Another great artist.  You can get 15% off anything in her shop this month with the code VBAPRIL12 at checkout.  I have one of her marbled tiedye headbands and its soooo wonderful!
{I love supporting my friends}

PEACE,
Laura
