Threads + Blowfish Giveaway Winner >>>

One more outfit post from before dying my hair red!  This was from earlier in the week.  This green top is one of my favorite shirts Ive ever owned.  Ive had it since I was about 15, and its starting to fall apart... But Ive never stopped loving it after all these years.  And I pretty much fell in love with it adorned with one of Lost Boys & Lovers body harnesses.  Putting on one of these harnesses makes you feel like an instant bad-ass.  Im not kidding.  There is something about them that just gives you like on old west dont cross me kind of feel.  Even with dainty florals, feminine sandals and quartz earrings on!  And I never thought this Bird Trouble purple bag would go with so much, but it does!  Its kind of become an extension of myself.

I apologize for the delay in bringing you the winner of the blowfish shoes giveaway!  Without further adieu...
please email me at violet_bella at hotmail dot com.

P.S.  thank you so much for all the kind words about my new red hair.  Its funny, b/c Ive dyed my hair almost every color in the past, but since its been pretty natural for so long, it feels so different this time...  Im still not used to it, but Im giving it time.  It really helped to hear so many of you liked it so much, so thank you!

This girl has not been out of her pj's in a week.  And most days, she didnt even brush her teeth until the afternoon.  Yep.  That was me this week.  Finally today, I decided to come out of my cocoon.  Were just going over to some friend's house, but I felt like putting on some makeup and jewelry and my lovely new Blowfish sandals, and breaking out my camera.  Ive come to realize, that although outfit posts are really just silly ol' things, that sometimes, they really can make a girl feel better.  Sometimes dressing up and feeling your self worth in front of the camera, is good for your soul.  And I definitely feel that the clothes we wrap around our bodies each day have an affect on us, as dumb as that may seem.  It is yet another way of self expression, an artform if you will.  Just another extension of saying how we feel about ourselves.  And when we feel good about ourselves, we tend to do better, feel better, and in turn, treat people better, not to mention treat ourselves better.  I can say, that just by getting myself dressed today, I already feel better.  This can be one of the downfalls of working at home.  You can go days without caring if you are so inclined.  And after a long period, it starts to wear on you everytime you look in the mirror.  So, here is my little pick me up.  To remind myself after a week of feeling really blah, that Im not

Just a little outfit post from the other day when we went to Kerrville.  I love having jeans for more than 10 years.  They get perfectly worn in, and kind of just feel like home when you put them on.  Even though my weight has fluxuated during the past 10 years (there was a time these would fall off, and there was a time they were too tight)... I still kept them, among many of my favorites, and Im so glad I did.  When I go through periods like that, Ill just pack up my favorites and still them in the garage for a while.  Then when I dig them out later, its like having all new clothes again!  And, if Im having an unwashed messy hair day, this is my go to hat.  I love this hat.  The beautiful trim necklace is from Bohemiantown on etsy :)

P.S. for all of you Blowfish Shoes addicts out there, they are having a massive sale through the 8th.  30% off everything, plus free shipping!  On top of their already drastically cut prices on many of the styles.  You cant beat it!  And today is Moorea Seal's sale on Fab.com!!!

PEACE,
Laura

Threads - Love You Moon >>>

Yesterday's outfit was just about the comfiest thing ever... This dress was given to me by my bestie about 10 years ago (guestimate) and I still love it.  This rad top is one of Lune Vintage's Harvest fringe tees...  I gifted this to myself last year and Im so glad I did.  Knowing where things like this come from make them so much more special.  And these shoes... Oh these shoes.  I dont want to take them off.  Blowfish, thank you once again for being so freakin stellar!

The story behind the amazing MOON sign you see in the background... When I was about 15, my friends and I would go to our local coffee shop, called the Fool Moon.  Back then, you could still smoke in restaurants, and the owner disregarded that we were wayyy under age.  So we could drink tons of coffee and smokes lots of cigarettes.  (and look at the beautiful people that worked there).  I always admired the rusted signs on the building.  That cafe closed and years later the owner opened a new restaurant.  Fast forward 12 years, and I became a waitress at said restaurant.  I will spare myself and everyone that whole story... but, I always had these signs in the back of my head.  A few years back I did a photoshoot with a friend, and we climbed up some stairs on the side of that old building to take some shots, and I noticed those signs had been thrown on top of the building.  Just laying there.  I contemplated stealing them several times.  Yes, I really did.  But... *sigh* I could never bring myself to do that, ha ha.  Well, up to date, a friend of mine works at the restaurant that replaced it, and I asked her if they were still up there, and they were, and they gave them to me!!!  So, 15 years later, they bless my porch.  Kind of crazy.  One of my alltime favorite photos I have of my mom is of her drinking a big cup of coffee outside of that cafe.  We used to go there together, and Ill never forget the one day we took photos of each other, and giggled together so much.  I have alot of fond memories, good and bad, that root to these signs.  And, as a moonchild, it almost feels like magic to have these in my sacred space on my porch.  And the best part, they were handcrafted by one of my favorite artists, who happens to be a local.  One of the most talented individuals Ive ever met.

Where the title came from... my favorites are Late May's Gaze, To Kill For You and A New World.

PEACE,
Laura
