Modcloth saved the day >>>

The day before yesterday I had a super girly moment.  It was the morning after a long day of not feeling so great and alot of general sluggishness...  While drinking my coffee I remembered these super cute things I just received from Modcloth, but then quickly realized I had absolutely no reason to get dressed up.  All I was going to be doing was packaging orders and going to the post office that day.  Then... I remembered that it shouldn't matter.  I work from home - which equates to long days spent in pjs alot of the time... and I also remembered a friend telling me a long time ago, that it helped her productivity (she also worked at home) to get dressed for the day, even if she was just going to be home.  And it worked!  After I did this fun photoshoot, I was ready to go for the day.  No more lounging around with my coffee in hand scouring the internet.  It was a great reminder that you dont have to be going somewhere to have an excuse to dress up and feel cute.  And by the way, I had wayyyy too much fun with the amazing lighting coming through my window, so there are alot more photos than usual in this one!  So... if you are ever feeling sluggish while trying to work at home, try this trick and see if it works!  A half hour spent getting fixed up could result in lots of productivity that makes up for it!

This lovely doll was handmade by my Nanna.  I just adore her.  I just realized I have yet to name her.  I thank an appropriate name would be Olive.  So.... meet Olive :)

After I was done playing girly girly dress up, I didnt want to walk around my house all day in heels, so I threw on some shorts and cons.  I thought this could show you a super easy way to transform an outfit from day to night, or vice versa.  Do you ever go on dates and by the end of the night wish you just had some tennis shoes to throw on?  This is the perfect solution.

Speaking of which, I think its time for to go get dressed for the day again!  Ive got lots to do :)

Cross Culture Inspired Threads >>>

Our dear friend Christie who we grew up with and moved to California a few years back came home for a visit with her boyfriend and her adorable weenie pup Zoey Beans. She had a get together at one of our local bars in town. Its an outside bar, with live music and you can bring your own steaks and cook them on a grill if you want. Ive only been there once or twice, and never cooked my food there, but me and Shelley decided we are going to have a girls night there and cook a steak together while we watch the sweet old couples two step on the dance floor.  I love watching couples dance.  My grandfather taught me how to 2-step and waltz when I was younger.  But in the course of my dating life, Ive only had one boyfriend who would dance with me.  Ive always wanted to go out dancing though.  Not clubbing, big difference!  Ive never had a desire to go clubbing... well maybe the thought crossed my mind when I was about 16 or so, but never went, and Im glad I didnt.  I was telling my bestie the other night, I wish I grew up in a town during an era where they had huge barn dances all crazy bluegrass style.  I think it would be soooo much fun!

I wore probably my favorite outfit of this whole year that night.  So many of my favorite elements in this one, from the patterns and colors to the general comfyness of it.  And I am completely obsessed with my new Blowfish boots.  For being wedges and wearing them all day long yesterday, my feet did not hurt at all!  That says alot to me about a shoe.  Love love love love love.  Did I say love?  I got these boots.  I got these amazing tassel earrings custom made by Lost Boys & Lovers a good while back.  One of my favorite pairs of earrings Ive ever owned.

Yesterday a friend pointed me in the direction of SouLodge ran by Pixie Campbell and I fell in love.  I really want to take their Winter Session.  And I talked to my hubby last night and he agreed to do this with me, I cant wait for the winter solstice.

Date Night Threads >>>

The other day James wanted to take me out on a date to our local wine bar, so of course I said YES!  I love going on dates when its his idea.  I really wanted to wear my green tights for the first time and I wanted to be sort of dressed up for a date, but totally cozy at the same time.  Besides the tights, the rest of this outfit has been in my closets for years.  Just some good ol' cozy staples to fall back on.  The best part, these amazing moccassins were my moms.  Although Im pretty sure she had them for a halloween costume, i still love them.  I accessorized with my favorite feather in a bottle necklace and a single feather earring from my Roots and Feathers line (both pieces I kept for myself).  For the first time, after seeing these photos, I realized just how long my hair is finally getting!  I love it.  Ive been trying to grow  my hair out unsuccessfully for the past several years.  So its very exciting for me (personally)!

I want to thank everyone who bought something over this crazy holiday shopping weekend!  It was wonderful.  Im working hard on getting everything out as quickly as I can.  I packaged till my little arm hurt today :)  Which I am so very thankful for!  I have to say, it was almost as crazy as being the featured seller!  I really didnt expect that kind of outcome, so thank you so much!!!  Im pretty sure Im going to be taking the last week or two off from my shops (like actually putting them on vaca) to work on some new things, be inspired, make some gifts, enjoy the holiday season with friends and family, and all of those sort of things.  Im kind of going to have to force myself to do this.  Im not so good at taking off real periods from work.  So well see, I say it now!!!  But I think I owe it to myself.  Sort of like a preparation for a new wind for the new year.  Ill still be here on the blog though.

Just a reminder, two days left to get a sponsor spot or send me your info if you already placed one!  And be on the lookout for some giveaways coming up tomorrow!!!

 PEACE,
Laura

Beautiful Bohemiantown Necklace >>>

Im super happy to say that my monday went as planned...  I went to yoga with my friend and then she came back to my house and helped me out with work.  So so nice.  I never ever regret going to my yoga class.  Not just for the yoga, but also for my instructor.  I have a one in a million instructor here in the hill country.  He is just a soul brother that puts my heart aline each time I see him.  He just has a way with words and such a pure spirit that its infectious.  I always leave feeling calmer, stronger, more equipped to face this world.  And I feel loved.  Now Im asking myself why I dont carve out time for myself to go feel this feeling each week???  Because Im crazy.  But I plan to change that.

And my day with my bestie was wonderful.  We went to tons of places and completely exhausted ourselves, ha ha.  But it was so nice just being with her.  I was smiling from ear to ear when I got in  her car just for the fact that I was going to be next to her for the next several hours.  Loved it.  And today, I get to see my little baby nephew!!!  Im so excited to finally hold him.  We have not even seen him since he came home from the hospital, which is wayyyy too long!  Im so ready to really meet him.  And I have a feeling it may propel this baby fever Ive been feeling times a million.  Well see...

A few days ago I received this gorgeous necklace in the mail c/o Vickie of Bohemiantown.  When she contacted me this month for a sponsor spot, I went to check out her site and immediately felt at home with her.  Her style reminds me so much of myself.  And we even both make necklaces from vintage trim!  I love the way she designed hers with the beaded chain in copper.  Everything in her shop is gorgeous, earthy and bohemian.  And even more exciting, she lives in Austin, so we are practically neighbors!

(yes, I have an addiction to Forever 21.  Ive had several people leave me ugly comments about shopping there, but I dont care.  I love how affordable their clothing is and I can shop from home!)

Vicki's packaging was adorable too.  It came wrapped in the material in the background with a little piece of embroidered trim wrapped around it.  And I was stoked to see her necklace attached to a piece of cork.  It was just a beautiful earthy display for her necklace.  I love seeing how other designers package their work.

Laura
