A Budding Garden >>>

Ive been wanting to get my garden started for months now... and its finally happening!  I didnt get everything I wanted, but for now, Im happy.  Ill slowly add to it as I can.  I got lots of tomatoes, bell peppers, rainbow chard, strawberries, basil, oregano, lavender, sage, naturtiums, hibiscus and some pretty flowers.  I also rearranged a bit and put some new bird seed planters out.  It felt so good to get my hands in the dirt yesterday.

And today, I knocked out the majority of my taxes!!!  Just a few odds and ends to complete, and waiting on a few numbers.  Im sure Im forgetting more than I think though, I always do.  Taxes are not my forte.  But I can see over the horizon now...  It feels good.  Oh, and James and his friend went to his parents river and dug up some awesome river rocks and brought them back and made a firepit in our backyard!  Im super excited to have some bonfires.  Even though winter is behind us, well still roast marshmallows in the summertime!!!  Its officially bbq season.

Sentimental Porch Makeover >>>

A few weeks ago I re-vamped a corner of my back porch.  I added a little shelf and filled it to the brim with rocks, seashells, handmade artisan sculptures and old flower pots, all from my mom's house.  I even kept broken bits and pieces of some mosaic pots.  I absolutely love this space now.  One little step closer to creating our backyard sanctuary.

Speaking of sanctuary's... I want to give a huge thank you to Melissa of Bubby & Bean for her awesome guest post.  I loved reading about the places she has been and the simple places she finds to calm her soul.  Her and I are kindred spirits on a deep level, and Im so very glad we found each other.

I have all of the winner's of last month's giveaways drawn!  Ill be posting them in my next post!  Be on the lookout to see if it was YOU!

PEACE,
Laura

Pieces of Home >>>

Little pieces from around the homefront lately. Below youll see my little hoopers. I cant believe I caught both of them sitting inside my hoops on the same day! So so cute and funny.

10 pm and Im just now about to go do my 2nd day of yoga.  Some days dont go the way we plan, so we have to bend accordingly.  I think Ill do a fairly short and slow cool down session of yoga.  Ease myself into relaxation for the night.  The next few days are already filled up with to do's... so this little bit will help.  I did get in a bit of hooping today.  More just working on some arm tricks, but Im slowly getting it.  Its funny how hooping tricks are, you can mess up 100 times and then all of a sudden it just clicks when your not thinking about it.  I love that moment.  I broke down and bought a polypro hoop today.  Ive been holding off b/c we are trying to save money right now, but its something that is super important to me, so I finally just went for it.  I cant wait to get it in the mail in a few weeks.  To me, its beats a gym membership.  -- I also got a few plants in the dirt today.  The 10 minutes I had my hands in the dirt felt sooooo good!  Got me even more excited about our garden.

This month is going by soooo fast!  Ill try to do a post soon, but until then, my sponsorship spots for March are now open.  You can email me at violet_bella (at) hotmail (dot) com if you are interested in a spot.

Pieces of Home - Instagram Style >>>

For those of you who follow me on Instagram youve already seen all of these images. But those who dont, I thought Id share them here, kind of a little recap of things throughout this week >>>

Most excitingly I created and launched a new Roots and Feathers website hub.  A central place where you can easily find links to everywhere we are online.  I love it!

I had some yummy meals.  Getting back on my good eats train.  This one was wild rice, carrots and a spinach salad with grapes and feta cheese and hibiscus dressing.

Broke out my Blind Melon albums to listen.  They were the first band I learned every song in and out to on my cassette player headphones in 4th grade.  I remember laying on the living room floor just blaring it in my headphones and memorizing every word.  The second album I did that with was Counting Crows.  I remember sitting on the bathroom sink devouring every lyric while singing along.  My musical journey really started there I think.

I gathered sticks and stones from the woods.  You can read more on that post here.

I got a book from my friend Julie, The Sacred Tree, and read the whole thing before bed one night.  Great simple explanation of the medicine wheel.  For the first time in a long time, I devoured the words like a child learning about bugs, or something like that.

Just a pretty pic of some wrapping paper I got at World Market.  Little things like make my heart happy happy!

There were two days this week that Violet wanted back in after going potty in the morning.  She snuggled up in bed almost all day.  It was precious.  Bellas window is by the bed, so she just laid there staring out the window.

A piece of my little window bunting.  I did a diy on this a while back, you can see that here.

Lately Ive been called upon by the Blue Jay in a big way.  I have been seeing them and the words 'bluejay' everywhere I go.  Im listening.

Found this old wine cork in my backroom and it reminded me of my daddy, Tim.  Going to incorporate in one of my Soulodge projects I think.

Wore one of my PPP dresses for the first time in a long time!  I love my bambi dress :)  So so sweet.

My new Roots and Feathers postcards came in the mail!  Along with James new Skyline Fever business cards!  Love little stuff like this.  I used images from my newest lookbook.

I hooped everyday this week.  Even if it was just for 5 minutes.  This is a pic of me feeling happy resting on the deck after doing so.

Snapped a pic of James and Violet snuggling in James music room.  So sweet.  Violet gives the best snuggles.

Laura
