Things around the house...

This morning Im sharing images Ive captured on my phone throughout the past week or so.  I have about 100 I could share, so for now, here are just a few.  These are mostly wonderful moments in between all of the work that has gone on.  I had a heavy work load this past week, but accomplished so much!

I also wanted to say to my friends and family out there who may be reading this, I have been internalizing my feelings a bit more about my dad lately.  I guess its the different waves of emotions you go through when grieving.  So far I have shared so much so openly, I think a part of me wants to take those feelings within a bit more and work things out in my head.  I havent felt much like talking on the phone to anyone, especially those of you who I havent yet had a conversation about my dad with.  I think I relived it so much in the first few weeks Im wanting to lay off it a bit with others.  I will share again as the time feels right.  Please just dont take it personal if I have not called you back yet.  I just need some time in this area.  And know that this season will change, and I will feel back to being a social butterfly eventually...

THINGS AROUND THE HOUSE LATELY

loving every day these pretty flowers are still alive that James brought me.
I received this adorable pic of miss Leena in the mail and was so delighted to hang it on my fridge!
I read more of my Post Secret book on the way to town.  Does anyone have this book?  Its incredible to peek into the dark corners of peoples minds.
I received this adorable beanie and the necklace below (along with a precious painting) from Rachael of Talk to the Trees.  She is an incredible girl with a heart of gold and the soul of a fairy.  Love her.
For about 5 minutes the other day we got an incredible storm!  It poured down rain out of nowhere and the trees were just swaying back and forth!  We were actually scared they might just root out of the ground and fall over b/c the ground has been sooooo dry.  It was amazing!
James and his daddy and a friend worked so hard for several hours the other day tearing down some trees in our yard.  It was a necessary move in order to bring a shed onto the land.  Plus it was a cluster of cedar trees that were choking out an oak tree, so no it can thrive again.  I was so proud of all of their hard work.  And is that not the cutest pic of James and his daddy's butt, ha ha!  He is going to hate me for posting this :)

Bella watching the rain
Bella and Violet hanging out together.  They usually are on the rug at different times, so its so cute when they are chillin together.  They both curl up on the blanket, I love it.  This is the only place in the house Violet can play chew toy b/c the floors are so slick here.  So its basically their play mat :)
James snuck a pic of me and Violet sitting on the porch in the morning with our coffee, watching the birds and the morning sun peek through the trees.
This has been what my jewelry room has looked like for weeks!  With so much work in there, I just cant keep it clean.
I have squeezed in some work out time, which includes hooping.  Im still no good at it, but I do love it.  I mostly just love hooping to the feel of music.
Nico has been a little chirping fool.  I here him right now playing with his bell.  I love when he sits up on his little painting.  So cute!
James has been playing guitar everyday.  I love it.  He has been writing lots of new melodies and is going through alot of his old stuff and re-writing some.  Im so glad he has found this inspiration again.
TODAY is the LAST day to enter this awesome giveaway!  And also the LAST day to become a sponsor for September.

PEACE,

Kitty Love

The other day I snapped some pretty pretty pictures of my beautiful little Bella kitty.  She is the most photogenic thing I know.  I just had to share...

And speaking of kitties, this little girl also joined our family around christmas time.  Her name is Josie.  She is so petite and friendly.  She loves collecting things, so I let her be the watch kitty of my grandfather's marble collection.  She came from Hybernate.  I think one day, she may need Bella, the bunny, to be friends with.

Cats have always been my favorite animal.  Growing up, there was hardly a photograph of me without a cat in my arms.  I used to do awful things to them, like put my babydoll dresses on them, and put lipstick on their face for blush.  Im sure I made them sing and dance too.  We had one cat, Sugar, that would let me tote her around like a ragdoll.  She didnt care what I did to her.  I loved her.  We had so many cats growing up that I loved.  I brought one home from school one day too.  I found it stuck under the ac unit behind a building, in the rain.  It was tiny.  I took it to the principles office to call my parents and beg them to bring it home.  Then I went to the gym and got a towel, to the cafeteria to get milk, to the science lab to get an eye dropper, and my english teacher for some reason had a heating pad, so I fed it and bundled it up for the day until I could take it home and make it mine forever.  We named him Ratso Rizo after a movie character, and he became our fattest cat ever.  Now I am a one cat girl.  Since I moved out, Bella went with me, and has been with me since.  She hates other cats, so its just her.  And she rules the house!  She is half of Violet Bella, pretty important if you ask me :)

What is your favorite animal?
p.s. I love ending my posts with a question, we can all get to know a little about each other this way...

PEACE,
Laura

Top 5 Friday

Today's TOP 5 FRIDAY comes from  Heather over at Ramblings From The Animal House...

Top 5 Favorite things in my home:
(this one was hard to narrow down, and I kept changing my mind, so Im sure this list could go on and on...)

1. The things my mother handmade.  Each one of these things is equally meaningful to me... the top left also has a quilt my aunt crocheted... the top right sun quilt was made by my mother when she was in her twenties...and I think the crazy quilt on the bottom right was also.  That one is unfinished, but I love it soooooo... The bottom left is a kaliedescope she made for Tiffany's, and is what sparked the seed of her business making Broken China Jewelry.  It tells a story in glass and china.  If there was a fire in the house, these would be the things I would grab. (besides my pets of course)

2.our babies.  and yes, I make the bed everyday so they can all be together.  And I sleep with the two matching teddy bears.

3. I adore my vintage velvet sewing chair, which was scored during a thrifting date for $10!

4.Moon, my mannequin.  Ive had her since I was about 14.  She is always changing her looks.  She used to do craft shows with me.  She used to pose nude up at the restaurant I worked at!  She fell in love with a mysterious artist once.  She has had quite the life, and I will take her with me anywhere I go.  (I mean, if I move, not like driving in the car with me all buckled up!  ha ha, if that starts to happen, someone please stop me!)

5. My photos on my fridge.  I love seeing my mommies face right in the center of all of my favorite peeps.  I love changing all the photos out from time to time.  It just fills my kitchen with life and memories.

Im going to need some more suggestions for my Top 5 Fridays soon, this is an interactive blog feature that comes directly from you guys!  So head on over to this post, and add your question.  Please read the questions before yours to make sure you are not asking the same ones :)

PEACE,
Laura
