With the release of a few new jewels comes a sweet little display shoot with the wicker chair I found in Louisianna. When I bought it this is what I envisioned, so its really fun to bring it to life. I just added the new bracelets that Ive been teasing you with for months now... and I'm adding the wire wrapped sea shell necklaces this morning... and soon, I have several new stone rings coming to the shop, as well as many other pretties.
ROOTS AND FEATHERS DISPLAY
As a designer I have always dreamed about having an area in my studio where I have my jewelry set up as if it were in a shop. Mainly for inspiration. And partly b/c Ive always dreamt of having my own store. I simply don't have the room in my house for this right now, so I thought I would create little vingettes every now and then when I have new pretties that I am inspired by. Most of this batch is new and will be in the shop when I get back from vaca. I'm so so in love with some of the pieces. Brown and turquoise are always my autumn colors. And I'm in love with the new black leather necklace. I will be making one for myself at some point!
I'm so excited about the little bit of fall around the corner. October will be a month of photoshoots, layers, nature walks, fires in the backyard, and so much more.
ROOTS AND FEATHERS HOME DECOR
I almost forgot to share these babies on the blog! I made these a few weeks ago, and I'm just so in love with them. There are only two left in the shop! Time to make some more. Most of them are inspired by the sea and the mermaid, and you can definitely tell. That theme has still not left my mind. I love creating new spins on old designs. Like giving new life to something that has come and gone. That is how I feel about the gypsy fringe wall hangings. One of the first things I actually created for Roots and Feathers was the inspiration behind them.
After several days of feeling very down, achy, and no luster for much in general, I'm glad to say my spark came back a bit the night before last. I actually made some sketches for some new stuff, along with sketches of things I want to bring back that have been forgotten about in my shop. It's not all that often I actually break out the sketchbook. I should more often b/c its really inspiring when I do. And it's pretty cool to see a pencil drawing of something come to life!
Today, you will find me in the studio. Have a good one!
DISFUNKSHION MAGAZINE
I'm so honored to be featured in this season of Disfunkshion Magazine under their Phenomenal Women section. It hit the shelves on the 22nd, but I have not been able to make it town to pick up a copy until yesterday. We went to two Barnes & Nobles before finding it! It was funny when we picked it up b/c I was showing obvious excitement when I saw it on the shelves, and then James and I quickly were flipping through it to find the article... and there was a girl who was reading the mag right next to us and she kept looking at her mag and looking back up at me, over and over. She probably over heard us talking about the fact that I was in it. It was too cute.
I had no idea what it was going to say or what photo was going to be used, so it was all a nice surprise! The Wildfox bodysuit outfit post is one of my all time favorites!
It's been a pleasure to collaborate with Disfunkshion over the past year. Last season they featured one of my articles I wrote about Ally Sands home over on The Bohemian Collective. And they have picked up and featured countless artists that I have shared on the collective as well. It has been really fun to see so many of my friends get featured through them after being featured in The Bohemian Collective. My dream is to one day see my Roots & Feathers line on one of their beautiful bohemian island models in a photoshoot spread! How cool would that be???
Big love to Disfunkshion for thinking I'm rad enough to feature in this amazing section!!!
