Skyline Fever sneak peek >>>

A little sneaky peeky at the new Skyline Fever shirts about to hit the shop.  Ive been excited about these tops since we got them almost 2 months ago!  We finally got a small batch done.  Its taking longer than usual to get certain things done these days, but that is okay.  I love the short wide loose crop of these tees b/c you can wear them over anything!  I cant wait to layer them over thermals this winter.  And of course, the tee pee is one of my personal favorite designs...

Today was awesome.  I started off in a funk, and then told myself this morning to get out of said funk.  And it worked!  I went into my studio, made a HUGE mess on the floor (and half of the house)... and made some of my favorite pieces of ALL TIME.  I made things I have dreamt about for a while now, and it just finally poured out.  I love love love when that happens.  Its not a feeling you get everyday as an artist.  For me, when I get this feeling, my heart starts racing, my mind is racing, I want to listen to loud music (I chose The White Stripes first self titled album on full volume), and if I talk to someone, its most likely going to be ninety miles an hour.  It is an awesome feeling, that usually only lasts a few hours b/c that is just about all a body can handle.  It was wonderful.  Unfortunately I had to stop to go to the post office, and by the time I returned, it was gone.  But, I have some amazing soul work to be shown for it, and I cant wait to share!

Oh, and since the last treasuries I shared, I have made two more.  From Dusk Till Dawn and Ombre.

p.s.  giveaway winners should be announced tomorrow :)  xo.

Wishing I could sleep the day away >>>

The other morning I woke up and discovered Bella sprawled out on the couch.  She normally sleeps on a pillow next to my bed.  I think she realized how cozy it looked with all the blankets left a mess on it.  She stayed there all day long.  It was quite cute.  I think she was just soooo comfy she didnt want to move.  I understand why too... I actually slept there last night.  I woke up in the middle of the night with awful girls pains and didnt want to get back in bed.  I sat on the couch for a bit, and then it was time for James to get up for work (4 am)... so I just fell asleep there while he got ready for work.  He brought me pillows, my binky (yes i sleep with a binky) and my teddy bear (yes i sleep with a teddy bear, 3 to be exact).  And Bella slept by my side the whole night.  I actually slept so good and deep on the couch!  I just might sneak out there from time to time, ha ha!
Saturday we went to James brothers baby shower.  It was a nice time full of their family and friends.  We saw people we hadnt seen in years!  I havent uploaded my photos from it yet, just my camera pics of what I wore.  And the cute little outfits below that we gave them.  Along with a few other little things.  I love baby clothes shopping.  I have a feeling Im going to have to be held in restraints when we have a kid...  As much as I love clothes, itty bitty tiny ones are just even cuter!  And Im just as picky with baby clothes as I am my own.  I hate the typical clothes with Winnie the Pooh or cheesy sayings on them.  I just dont think I could even put them on my kid... (just my personal whacky thing - no offense to those of you who do).  I cant wait to make baby Skyline Fever clothes!!!  How cute is that going to be???

I snagged some pics of James screenprinting the other day.  He is so darn cute.  He made two new batches of shirts that will be in the shop soon.

Im not feeling that great at all today.  It will most likely take me the next 4 hours to get out my few packages... Im moving slowly....

Fringe Tee Shirt DIY...

Im sure most of you have noticed that the trend of fringed shirts has been huge lately.  I love that they have transitioned from not just vintage motorcycle and rocker tees, to any every day tee.  A few weeks ago I made one with a Skyline Fever shirt, an orange owl one... and thought Id do another for a DIY b/c it is just so easy.  I was asked by a girl at the pet store how to do it b/c she said she tried and failed miserably.  So Im here to show you today just how simple it really is.  Im sure there are already a bunch of tutorials out there on this, but here is my way.

All you need is your shirt and a pair of sharp scissors.  *you may want to practice on an old shirt first if you are afraid of messing up a good shirt*  Lay it out nice and flat on a hard surface.

The first thing I did was cut the edge off of the bottom and both sleeves.  This gives it the nice thin rolled look instead of the thick edges.  Then just cut the neck in a half circle.  The wider the circle, the more off the shoulder the shirt will be.  You can always cut more, so I suggest to not cut all the way to the shoulders at first, just to see how you want it to fit.

Then decide how far up you want your fringe to be.  You can make long fringe or cute short fringe.  I went about half way up with mine.  I placed a ruler (you can use anything straight and long) just as a place marker to keep me going in a straight line.  Then holding both sides of the shirt together, begin to cut strips in a straight line all the way up to your marker.  They really dont have to be perfect or the exact same thickness b/c once you wash and dry the shirt, the fringe will naturally roll up a bit and you wont even notice.
*if you want, you can do the same thing to the sleeves*
 and there is your shirt!

I hate wasting things, so I thought Id also show you an easy, quick & versatile way to use up the scraps that are left over from the edges you cut off.  I used the bottom (cut in two strips) and a piece of lace to make a braided headband.  *you could also make bracelets with the sleeve parts*

Just cut your fabrics all the same length.  I always pin my strips to a pillow for braiding to hold it in place.  (dont mind the kitty hair on my pillow)
For the closure I used two brass clamp style findings that I had laying around in my jewelry room.  But if you dont have anything like that to use, you can always just hand stitch the ends up, and also hand stitch some yarn or other trim for the ties.  Get creative, there are probably a ton of different things laying around your house you could use instead.

Once you have completed this easy and fun tutorial, have fun snapping some photos and send them my way!  Id love to see!

And for those of you who dont want to hassle with doing this yourself, but would love a Skyline Fever shirt decked out in fringe, you can now add this too any shirt or dress by adding this option to your cart at checkout.

Laura

Cheers to a new design...

My hubby's ever so silent screenprinting shop is now coming alive again.  We just added our newest design, The Flowerchild.  It comes right now on these four designs below.  We only have one size of each listed in the shop, but most are available in small - x large.  So if you see one you would like in another size, please message James on etsy.  Each of these new styles are my new favorites.  The colors are so perfect, and the styles and fits are equally as perfect.  There are two new designs in the works as well, and a few old ones I still need to perfect.  Its going to be a beautiful season for Skyline Fever.

Our little owl design made its way on to these adorable brown tshirt dresses as well.  I cant wait to dress these up in the fall with leggings and flannels...

Laura
