THREADS - AZTEC RUST

This is the little number I wore to my Nanna's birthday dinner.  I had planned on wearing this dress from Flying Tomato for christmas, but since I was feeling well, I opted for skinny cords and a sweater... I LOVE the color of this dress, I mean love.  I'm crazy for different brown tones.  And I adore the kaftan style, one of my favorites.  Its so lightweight.  It came with a blue belt that ties in a bow, but for this outfit I wanted to stick to the color palette.  I paired it with the beautiful deerskin belt from Sun & Glory that was featured in our last lookbook for The Bohemian Collective.  And speaking of lookbook pieces, the necklace was in the one before that... a beautiful one of a kind buffalo tooth necklace from Gypsies Caravan.  Two of my favorite designers.  And the bracelets are from 3 more of my favorite designers... Spirit Y Sol, Spiral Drift & Flourish Leather.  I will never stop loving accessorizing my outfits with beautiful handmade creations from people I truly believe in.  It feels so good to support other artisans doing what they love.  Knowing this path deeply within myself, I feel like we are in it together.  And... are these BC Footwear boots not the most perfect thing with this dress?  Eeek!  I think they were secretly made for each other.

Love this dress?  Or any of the other beautiful items found at Flying Tomato?  Come back later for an amazing giveaway from them!!!  Today is the last day to get 20% off their entire site!

THREADS - FEATHER & MOON

outfit details: sweater + phone case c/o chicwish // shirt - gifted from rain // leggings - walmart // sandals - blowfish // earrings - sun & glory // necklace - my mothers

My sweet friend Rain sent me this shirt in the mail and I couldn't wait to wear it.  Its a perfect fit, I love how long it is and that it has pockets!  So very sweet of you Hill!!!  And this sweater is uh-mazing.  I had no idea how soft it was going to be.  It is the perfect winter snuggle sweater.  I think they are sold out, but this one is just as cute.  I was super sad when my phone case started breaking a while back (also a sweet gift from Rain), so Ive been on the hunt for a new one.  As soon as I saw this one from chicwish, I knew it was the one.  During fall and winter, I start gravitating towards leggings, alot.  I found these at walmart a few years back for about $5 and love them.  Its kind of fun that in Texas Ive been able to wear sandals with sweaters.  The weather is just right to mix it up for a little while.  Still loving these blowfish sandals.  You might remember seeing these earrings in the latest Bohemian Collective lookbook, Mystic Moon.  They were paired with that amazing owl mask.  Sun & Glory has the most amazing macrame jewelry.  I also especially love her painted rocks.  And this sweet sweet moon necklace... the pendant was my moms.  It was in her stash of random things (she had lots of those).  I found it the other day and knew I wanted to make myself a simple everyday necklace with it.  I love how its old and worn.  Its absolutely the perfect moon.

Yesterday was a good day.  James and I strolled into a local thrift store we had not been into before and discovered an entire wall full of yummy books.  They had bought the inventory of a retired metaphysical shop!  I came home with several amethyst clusters and one luscious huge crystal cluster and about 8 books.  I was like a kid in a candy shop, in my own one horse town.  I couldn't believe it.  I'm saving my pennies to go back for more.  They also had a golden velvet chair that I want so bad.  But yeah, its kind of ridiculous for me to get another chair.  But oh my... my heart was a melting.

THREADS - BLACK GREY & BROWN + GIVEAWAY WINNERS

James and I had a shopping date last week.  Every year we usually go one day to the outdoor mall in San Antonio to just walk around and maybe do a bit of holiday shopping.  Every year we become a bit more distasteful towards this tradition as it ends up not being as fun as it used to be... I think its time to create a new holiday shopping tradition.  We didn't even get our yearly ornament at Anthropologie this time b/c they just didn't excite us.  Maybe next year well start a holiday thrift shop tradition or something more low key and homey to us.  But it was still nice to spend the day together.  This was the day after our night on the town in our home town, from my orange and plum threads post.  Two dates in a row is not bad!

On a different note, this morning I was reading some of my astrology overviews and came across an interesting snippit.  It was on one of my long term affected aspects, and one that is just about to end.  It spanned from Oct 12, 2012 to Dec 17th, 2012.  It couldn't be more true to what I have been experiencing during these dates, now that I think back on it.  This is why I love astrology so much.

"You will likely go through a process of realigning your self-concept during this period of time, possibly as a result of the reexamination of old wounds.  Early childhood episodes that in some way were damaging to your self-concept may be up for a second look, and new experiences related to these early episodes may help them to appear in a new and better light.  These issues could be related to your father or another significant mentor figure from your past.  These figures can be an important part of our ego structure as we go through life.  The reason such painful issues are reemerging in conciousness is for the purpose of healing these issues and finally moving beyond them.  You may find when you have gone through this process that you feel yourself coming into a broader view of your existence.  Changes that bring to light new facets of your self-image are good for you in the long run and serve to strengthen your true inner self-confidence, as a more well-rounded view of your life as a whole is revealed to you."

"With Chiron transiting in conjunction, square or opposition to your Ascendant, you will go through a potentially painful process of re-aligning your self-concept, possibly as a result of re-examination of old wounds.  Chiron is called 'the wounded healer' because it represents the archtype of imperfection and loss which when integrated leads to compassion and understanding of other's suffering, and provide the ability to serve as a helper and healer for others.  You have a great deal of compassion and empathy for other people during this period, and may choose to launch yourself into the helping professions, such as a counselor or massage therapist, or you may experience a powerful meeting, in which such a healing presence comes into your life during this period of time.  Early childhood episodes that in some way were damaging to your self-concept may also come back to haunt you at this time.  If so, it is good to make the effort to connect yourself consciously with any painful events that may be buried in your unconscious, so that these will no longer have so much power over you."

Wow, powerful stuff, and exactly what Ive been going through.  It's always amazing to read something like this after going through it, such an affirmation.  Even though I have already pulled my birth chart more than once, I just bought a custom one from Aquarius Nation, as a little gift to myself.  I can't wait to get it and pour over the pages.  As long as I can remember, this has been close to my heart.  Well, I think junior high was the pinpoint start of it when a friend's mother gave me a book, I was hooked.  I just feel so deeply connected to it.

And on another completely unrelated note, you must check out the Macrame DIY Plant Hanger from Christi Jay that was posted on The Bohemian Collective yesterday.  Its a good one!

THREADS - HIPSTO STYLE

A few times over the past few weeks I have taken some super quick outfit photos with my phone.  The ultimate in laziness.  But some days I'd like to capture my outfit but am either short on time, or just don't feel like fooling with the big camera and tripod.  I wasn't sure if I was even going to share these... but I've done it so often lately, I might as well.  I might mix some in here and there with my regular outfit posts.  All the colors are a bit off of the original since these all have phone filters on them.

outfit details:  top - obella organics // velvet pants - threadsence // boots - blowfish shoes // necklace + bracelet - spiral drift // purse - christi jay

I'll be back tomorrow with an amazing giveaway from Gaia Conceptions!  Her work is stunning, someone is going to be a lucky lady!
