DATE NIGHT WITH MYSELF

Date night with myself via rootsandfeathers.com

I love it when I get to work with a brand who is truly making a difference in the world through their company.  I was recently contacted by the International Princess Project to share their Slumber Party campaign to promote awareness for sex trafficking in India.  They have given women who have been victims of the sex trade an opportunity to support themselves with better than fair wages, and to heal in body and spirit and to live in freedom through creating jobs for them making Punjammies out of Indian fabrics.  Some of these women have had to endure years of being slaved and mistreated.  Many of the women have been kidnapped or lured by empty promises of jobs, or even sold by their own families, some even being children.  It breaks my heart that this is even a reality for so many.  It is such a beautiful thing to have a company like this dedicated to creating new lives for these women and bring hope into themselves for a better future for them and their children and future generations.  I wish I could personally go over there and give the woman who made my pjs a big hug... but from my little corner of the world, I can share this message and this company with you, and through that more people can be reached and make a bigger impact.

I don't talk alot on here about these things, but any kind of sexual abuse has always been something heavy on my heart.  It happens far too often, and the effects of it can linger for generations.  You can read more about the International Princess Project here.

I remember the first time I heard about Punjammies was from my friend Katelyn a few years ago and when she told me what they were all about I fell in love.

They teamed up with Prosperity Candles, a company who helps women from regions of conflict rebuild their lives, and LVX, a vegan nail polish company, to create a fun little slumber party.  My slumber party was a date night with myself (and obviously Bella)...

I love date nights with myself.  They don't happen that often, but I really do enjoy them when they do happen.  I made myself a cozy little reading nook by the window, made a whiskey sour, enjoyed the aroma of the handmade candle, painted my nails, read my book and my birthchart, and hung out with bella.  It doesn't take much to make a good date night for me!

My favorite thing about this outfit post, is that my deer friends are hanging out in the background!  They were just chompin on grass while I was taking pictures and talking to them.  I'm kind of just in love...

I wore this outfit on a date with my girlfriends a few weeks ago.  Everytime I put on a dress I realize how much a pants girl I really am.  I kind of feel out of my element in a dress.  But I do love them.  I can't tell you how many times though Ive put on a cute dress only to take it right off and put pants on.  I almost did that this night, but I'm glad I didn't b/c I ended up feeling girly and pretty that night, which is always fun. ;)

And omg, did I eat way too much that night!  Seriously, I had the worst stomach ache for the rest of the night b/c so much stuff was in my belly.  When I took my dress off I looked like I was 5 months pregnant.  I even sent a photo to my bestie that night of my belly, ha ha!  But that is for her eyes only...

It was a good and much needed night out.  Sometimes too much food and too much beer is a really good thing.  And of course chats with girls who make you laugh.  I even got to break out my mini tripod and phone self timer to use randomly with other people somewhere for the first time!!!  Woo hoo!

Buyamba Sandals

outfit details: shirt + skirt + hemp bracelets c/o earthbound trading co. // shoes c/o buyamba // earrings - roots & feathers // turquoise necklace & bracelet - soulmakes

This outfit post has been a long time coming... I shot these back in March!  I thought I was going to be sharing this in early April, but the collaboration took a different path, so I am just now sharing it.  I was very excited to be invited as an Earthbound Trading blogger b/c it was my first collaboration where I actually got to go to the store to pick out items instead of just online!  James and I made a little date out of it.  It was fun!  I picked out this pretty skirt and tshirt.  I love the way these skirts move and how versatile they are.  The print on this was just called my name...

You may remember my first Buyamba post a few months back...  I just love what this company stands for.  Go read all about them on their site here.  And check back this fall b/c they have some amazing things coming you won't want to miss, I promise!

On a side note, I'm so so so in love with the wall hanging in the background of these photos that I got from my friend marissa (Moondaughter).  It is just so perfect.  And the rocks on my windowseal were gifts from my brother... my favorite kind of gift.  He always finds me the raddest things...

As I went to take my outfit photos the other day of this outfit my battery died in my self timer for my camera, so I grabbed my phone and snapped some pics... and quickly remembered how fun it can be to use my phone for these.  You can get a completely different look than with a real camera.  These are nothing fancy, just on my messy back porch...

This week James and I have been working on getting all of the pre order Dylan tees made and ready to ship by friday! (tomorrow!!!) And sometime today or tomorrow well be listing them back in the shop!  That is right... I know some of you have been waiting oh so patiently for their return, so I'm super excited to be making this announcement.  Ill be back with another blog post when its official.

Happy full moon loves!  Full moon means its my own moontime, so Ill try to be gentle with myself and my expectations of today.  When I woke up this morning it was thundering with load crashing booms, then there was about 5 big rain drops and then the sun came out.  Now its back to dark and cloudy.  Looks like we have an indecisive sky above, and it just may reflect how I am feeling myself.
