Mini Date Night...

Last night James and I had a mini date to our local wine bar.  We mostly went b/c our friend works there, although he was too busy to really talk.  It was still really nice to not have to cook dinner and to have an excuse to dress up (and wear my new wedges).  I think this could possibly be my favorite outfit ever.  Soooo me.  And yes, I wore the Doors tshirt, again!   I finally just put it in the wash this morning!  And I still cant get enough of this navajo printed skirt that I thrifted a while back, and of course my belt from Ruche that I wear with everything!  Im considering getting it in plum too b/c I love it so much.  For everyone that commented on my shoes in the last post, I found them on ebay.  I seriously watched them for over 2 months before I went ahead and just got them.  So glad I did!  ...and how adorable does James look in his Skyline Fever owl shirt and plaid button up?  CUTE!!!

We got grilled panini sandwiches, James got his coke & I got a peachy drink, and we shared cheesecake!  Jonny added the little caramel stars for us and I thought it was so cute.  Oh, and the colorful pic of the car window was in the car wash!  I love it when they spray the multi-colored stuff on, so fun!

This has been a good week.  Im happy to have gotten so much done, and had some lovely times with my boy.  For those of you who do not know, the launch for my new line Roots and Feathers is going to be on June 14th, which is my mothers birthday.  Just another way to honor her.  It was James idea, and as soon as he said it, it made my heart so happy.  As much as I am missing her right now, it will be nice to be debuting a part of my creative soul in her honor that day.  This new line really does feel like my roots are coming out.  My true self as a jewelry artist.  I love all of my Violet Bella stuff, but this just feels even more true to myself than before.  Im loving it.  Even if it is not a success, I dont mind, b/c it is purely for my soul's creating.  Its almost like discovering yourself all over again as an artist, and a bit personally too.  So, in 3 more days, let's all celebrate my mother together through this.  She is the one who gave me the 'roots' that i have, and the 'feathers' to fly.  no doubt.

p.s. i love you mom.

PEACE,
Laura

Yesterday's behind the scenes...

Im so excited to have completed the photoshoot for Roots & Feathers yesterday.  It came out completely different than I had envisioned, but I think just as cute in the end.  Big relief to have it done.  Now just editing and putting it all together for a lookbook!  It took up so much of my time yesterday that today will be spent making up the things I did not get done.  All custom orders will be getting done this week!!!  Oh, and now that I have my own phone with a good camera on it, Im a bit obsessed, I took 68 camera pics yesterday, eeeekkkk!!!!

*snuggles with the most adorable pup in the world*

In this pic below you will see my new curtains!!!  Love them so much.  A sunflower in my tiny garden!  Its so tall.  My new business cards!!!  They match my new blog look and I love love love them.  And a huge feather I found in our driveway yesterday.

Peeks from the photoshoot yesterday.  I had a whole bucket of clothes to choose from.  Fun fun stuff!  Sometimes it is quite challenging being the model, photographer, make up artist, wardrobe stylist, set designer, etc etc all at once.  It can get overwhelming.  I pretty much have to do shoots like this when I am by myself with no distractions.  And since it takes alot of guesstimating you have to take several shots to get one good one.  But in the end, I am in control of all creative direction which means it is all my own vision, so whether its good or bad, only I can take the credit or the fall.

And of course after all of the crazyness, I just had to get silly

And the rest of the day quickly became a tshirt and jeans day.  I love my new little Doors tee that I scored at the thrift store a few days ago.  Ive kind of worn it everyday since.

Our friends were not able to make it over last night for our Tarentino movie night.  So James and I took advantage of the pallet on the floor I had made and sprawled out and ate our homeade pizza and watched tv, with Bella by our side.  It was nice!

A super good productive day it was.  Now to find some more energy to do it again today.  Eeeeeekkk, I just realized my birthday is two weeks!  Time to start planning...

PEACE,
Laura

Roots & Feathers Sneak Peek...

Big sigh... I completed the photoshoot for my new line Roots and Feathers!  Its very different than I originally envisioned, but still quite cute.  Here is a sneak peek of what it looks like.  And yes, that beautiful doily & feather dream catcher is one of the items I am going to be selling in the new shop!  So excited.  It's going to be hard waiting 6 more days before launching!  But that gives me 6 more days to create some more pretties for you guys.  The banjo was my grandfather's and I am hoping I can get my dad to help build me a custom hook to hang it on my wall.  And see my new shoes, Im a bit obsessed!  I have been eyeing them for 2 months now & finally decided to go for it!

PEACE,
Laura

This is going to be an eventful day...

I have been a bit MIA for the past two days.  Ive been working super hard on getting out a large order for the lovely Ruche. (which by the way has another beautiful lookbook out) As well as a few other orders.  And all the while, thinking about my upcoming new line for Roots and Feathers.  Today I am doing a photoshoot for it, and honestly, Im nervous.  Even though it is just me and the camera.  I never know what Im going to get.  The background is already completely different than what I had envision, which is always how it goes.  I have to work with the materials I have on hand.  But Im sure in the end it will all turn out just fine.  Im my own worst critic, I know this.

So today entails finishing up my Ruche order, a HUGE photoshoot, cleaning house for company, Tarentino movie night with friends, making homeade pizza crust... I have my hands full!  But I really wanted to squeeze in a little hello here on the blog before I dove into it all.  These photos are from yesterday.  We had a ton of errands to run in the city.  The last way we like to spend our afternoons, especially after James has been awake for work since 3 in the morning.  But we got through it!  I also got to nab some curtains I have been obsessively eyeing at World Market.  Im in love, Ill take a pic later.  the. perfect. curtains.

Drooling over the new Anthropologie catalog on the way.  Just being a typical girl here, but I wish my hair looked like hers, and I wish I could afford some of those digs!  So pretty...

James and I are in love with shopping at Whole Foods when we get the chance.  There are so many reasons why.  He even works at HEB (a texas grocery store), but we find ourselves miserable everytime we have to shop there.  Its crowded, the people are not happy, the service is usually horrible, things are always in a different place, they look at you like you are an irritant or crazy when you ask for paper bags, etc, etc.  Whole Foods is so relaxed, everyone is happy and helpful, they only use paper bags, and they ask you if you need ice for your cold stuff, you can get fresh awesome & healthy smoothies for the ride home, and their selection of organic products of course is just much greater than HEB.  You do have to be careful not to crazy in there b/c there is so much fun stuff, but when we just get what we need, we are not spending anymore than we would at HEB.  I wish so badly there was one closer to us that James could go work at.  It would be the happiest day to get him out of HEB.  But until then...

Off to start this crazy awesome full day!  I cannot wait to launch my new line, Roots and Feathers, on June 14th.

PEACE,
Laura
