Instagram Love >>>

Some random images from the past few weeks through my Instagram.  I dont think Ill ever stop loving my ipod, just for these photos.

It was a pretty eventful few days this weekend.  Friday I spent the evening with my bestie.  We were just going to stay in with the kids, but her mom took them for the evening, so after she made us some yummy salmon salads, we headed out to meet a friend in town and watch a local band.  I enjoyed my time with my bestie and Im already jonesing for more of her.

Then saturday we met some friends and went to the Dave Ramsey conference.  James and I have been listening to Dave for a while now.  For those of you who dont know, he is a financial counselor on the radio.  He has been the driving force behind us taking control of our money, and being able to buy our first home.  Hes been a huge influence on us, and honestly without him, I think wede be seriously lost!  I highly recommend his theories.  So needless to say, it was soooo awesome to see him live, he is so fired up!  We have some fresh excitement now about tackling our goals for saving up for a car, along with so many other goals!  Im very happy our friends got to see him too, and became just as excited.  As much as money is a love/hate relationship for so many of us, there really are simple old school ways of easily taking back control of your life with it.  And it not only affects the things you can buy, but money affects so many other areas of your life... Even those of you who are good with your money, I think you can still learn so much from Dave!

After that, I spent the night with my Nanna, and most of the next day.  We did what we always do... sit and talk, and simply enjoy each other.  I feel blessed with every moment I get to spend with my Nanna.  She is one of my biggest soul mates, we just get each other.  I love her sooooooo much!

Now, Im back at home and back at work!

PEACE,
Laura

Thank you so much for all the love on my last photo post. It meant alot to me since it was such an emotional one for me. It was one of those days where I was not overwhelmed with the kind of sadness that just brings you to tears... but more just missing her and wanting to express that. And the best way I know to express things is through my art. So, thank you.

This is what I wore the rest of that day.  I love this part of spring, where its hot enough to wear shorts and sandals, but still a bit cool enough to wear layers and not just have your clothes stick to you in the heat.  One of my favorite times of year.  And this kimono top has proven to still be one of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe, along with the crochet fringe vest.  I find myself wearing them with so many different things.  Ive been working on some new feather earrings for Roots and Feathers, and this lovely one Im wearing below is already off to a new loving home, and is probably my alltime favorite one so far!  There are two more listed right now, but many more to come.  Ill be spending some time with my Nanna this weekend, so shop updates and work will temporarily be put on hold. (along with blog posts)...

Oh My Mama - Conceptual Photoshoot >>>

First the first time in a very long time today... I created some photowork straight from my soul and just for me.  So often lately the only time Im taking photos is of my jewelry, or for a lookbook for my jewelry, or an outfit post.  Although I love all of those, sometimes my soul just craves more.  More of the rawness I had when I first fell in love with photography.  The kind of works I use to do before I had to focus on my work so much.  Ive mentioned on here a few times that I have wanted to, but today, I finally just stopped what I was doing and went for it.  To be honest, I played hookie from work today.  Sometimes as an artist, when you feel that stirring in your heart, you just have to go with it.

These photos are simple at heart.  They express bits of my yearning for my mom.  All of the elements used were pieces of her... Things that came from her home, that were dear to her heart, and are now oh so dear to my heart.  I couldnt help but think of one of my favorite songs by Alela Diane, called Oh My Mama, so I thought Id share it here.  Id recommend pressing play before you start to look at the photos because there are alot of photos.  I dont normally like posts with so many images in one place, but for this, I had to.  Enjoy.   (P.S. Feel free to share these or pin these, but please respectfully leave a link back to here wherever you do.)

Im so excited to share today's outfit post!  This shirt has been a week in the making since I didnt have time to do it all at once.  I was inspired by Jill's tutorial here, but used another method.  I cant find the original source now, but it was a simple tutorial on how to use glue.  I started off with a plain white shirt, wrote my Joni Mitchell lyrics with the glue, let it dry a few days (only b/c I was busy), then dyed it with rit dye with an ombre effect.  I love the peachy color it came out.  Then I cut the tee to make it cute with a hi-low rise on the bottom, scoop neck and tulip sleeves.  My new favorite summer shirt, and I want to make a million of them now!  Id love to have a shirt making party with some friends!  Im going to try Jill's bleach method next on a black shirt!

Moorea Seal has made me fall madly in love with these earrings of hers!  I love the 3D look.  They are so modern but still feel so feminine.  Simple perfection! ...And I used one of my favorite O Bella Organics headwraps as a belt with this outfit... LOVE.  Such a versatile little piece.  This one is the plum colored one.

I am still in my highly inspired spring mode.  Behind the scenes Ive been working on alot.  I have a super rad collaborative project in the works, Im still busting out new pretties for Ruche and Threadsence, Ive made some adorable dreamcatchers going to good homes (and want to make more for the shop soon), I made some new things yesterday that just make me want to squeal, and have two new styling invitations that Im very thrilled about coming soon.  This is why I love spring.  Although I tend to get so into what Im doing I can miss out on the fun life outdoors.  Which means if the project will be okay outside, then I need to take it on my porch to work on it!

Other exciting news is that James wants to start going to yoga!  So we are planning on going to my alltime favorite evening classes by my oh so adored yoga teacher.  Ive had to miss about 7 weeks of yoga class now since we only have one car.  Im so thrilled he is finding interest in it.  Ive always wanted to do yoga together, I hope it really happens.

Time to go get busy, and listen to some good tunes and daydream while I do.

PEACE,
Laura
