I have re-decorated and rearranged rooms in my home multiple times, but this is the biggest makeover Ive ever done from the ground up.  On my birthday in June we sold my parents house, which was a long time coming, and even though it broke my heart to let go of my childhood home, there is a big blessing in it all from my parents for our future.  From this I allowed myself one big splurge to makeover my whole studio.  My whole life I have outfitted my home with hand me down furniture, thrift finds, etc.  Which is really wonderful and has made my home very homey and often sentimental to me.  In my studio space I always just made it work with what I had, but I allowed myself to create my dream studio, and it felt like the biggest birthday gift ever from my parents.  I am so grateful for this space and everytime I walk in the room to create I am filled up with gratitude.

My biggest goal was to be able to transform my studio from a jewelry studio to a jewelry/ magazine writing space.  Before my jewelry supplies cluttered two huge desks and it was hard to even think in this space unless I was submerged in jewelry design.  Over the past year I have made jewelry less and less b/c of the magazine and Skyline Fever. So now I have all my jewelry supplies tucked away in this desk with drawers where I can easily access them if I'm inspired to do so, and have also created an inspiring place to write my magazine.  I sit at this desk with the window open, watching the deer outside, usually with Banjo b/c he loves watching the deer too.  It is now a space I can go to to sit and daydream about the magazine and feel super inspired.  The whole feel of this space has just shifted incredibly.

A little side note: I do NOT think you have to have the perfect space to create, ever.  I think it's often an excuse so many of us make to not create something, by not having the right space.  My dream of starting my own business years ago began on a card table behind my couch in a 3x6 space.  If you have the passion, you make it work, regardless!  That being said, there is also nothing wrong with creating a beautiful space to create in if you are able to.  It can be truly inspiring to do so.  I'm very grateful to have this space, but I would never stop creating if I did not have it.

A few weeks ago we had some weather that was such a tease.  For about 3 or 4 days it was below 70 in the mornings, and stayed beautiful throughout the day.  I really start looking forward to Autumn as soon as I feel the first signs of the season changing.  It is my favorite season of the year, and I can feel every fiber in my being start to burst with joy of its forthcoming.  I think alot of people feel that.  Just this morning, Sadie posted a new blog post on the Bohemian Collective called Going Inward: 6 Ways to Benefit from the Autumnal Shift, so I know that feeling is started to fleet across us in many areas of the states.

I'm loving this whole outfit from Element Eden.  It's not very often I find myself styling so many pieces from one place in one outfit, but it all just flowed together so well.  This flannel is so cozy.  It's a bit thicker than most, and I know I will be wearing it alot this upcoming season, hopefully by many, many campfires.

As soon as I saw this snake muscle tank I fell in love.  The feel of it immediately reminded me of Steve Earle's album art from Jerusalum.  Different, but just has that Steve Earle feel to it, which is what stole my heart, b/c well... Steve Earle.  Enough said.

I also wanted to mention how beautiful Cassandra's work is.  Her Oli Rose Collection jewelry is so well crafted and timeless.  I'm honored to have a few of her pieces in my collection.  I think they pair flawlessly with turquoise which is my staple.

Back to magazine creating!  My head has kind of been in the clouds or in emails the past few days.  xo

Cheers to a holiday weekend!  We are having a sale over in Skyline Fever (first sale in agesssss) Get 25% off everything through the weekend with code 'laboroflove'.

Now about this outfit... I'm so in love with this denim handmade top from Ora Organic Clothing.  Her line is so simple, tailored and so well made.  I'm really in love with her new line of shibori dyed tops, so gorgeous.  Simply beautiful timeless pieces.

I'm kind of mesmerized by this natural shell and opal mala.  The colors are so soft and earthy.  It reminds me of my mother so much.  Her favorite colors were 'dusty' as she would call them.  Dusty blue, Dusty rose, dusty dusty dusty.  I always loved that she had her own words for things.

It's beautiful outside, the moon is in my rising sign of Gemini, my man is home, and it might just be time for a country drive.  Have a great weekend!

GATHERING BONES

Forgiveness is understanding,
That I may never know,
Why we hurt each other,
Or which one of us needs to grow.

~Kaypacha

Kaypacha's video spoke right to my heart last night.  This space I have been maneuvering through this past month, and still journeying on through September it looks like, has been twisty, uneasy, and out of the blue, and at the same time so healing, needed and full of breaking my heart open to release past shards that were left stuck inside of it where I just let the muscle just grow right over.  This month has been like a surgeon, digging deeply in to find the culprits and plucking them out one by one so that my heart can soften, forgive, and pump wildly for what deserves its attention.

I have been a coward, and I have also been brave.  I have spoken my truth.  I have shared my heart, and I have held my own heart on the shower floor.  I have forgiven, and I have also allowed ego to still hold on.  I have begged for answers, and am softening into never having them.  I am gathering my bones, and I will make a fucking beautiful life and work of art out of them.
