Simple and comfy is the best...

Yesterday James surprised me with a text while he was at work saying we needed to get out of the house and he was taking me on a coffee date.  I immediately stopped what I was doing and took a shower and got ready.  He knew exactly what we needed.  We went to our favorite little coffee shop in Ingram, Spirit Wind, and I got the best raspberry vanilla latte Ive ever had.  She kicked the pants off Starbucks!  Then we went to the local music store there and I found a Tori Amos and a Fiona Apple cd for $4 each and James found a super cheap Sonic Youth cd.  It was a nice little getaway.

I wore my favorite Neil Young shirt, my great grandaddy's belt (his name was Art), some shorts I had just cut off, and my mom's sandals.  Pretty much my favorite new outfit.  Just felt so relaxed and so me.  And Im starting to realize in photos how long my hair is getting!  Its finally happening!

Sometimes I think Ive fallen so in love with my camera phone that I forget I have a nice real camera.  This may not be good.

I caught Bella sitting on a box in the middle of my madness pile on our kitchen table.  Yes, this table has become my work/catch all place as of late.
Today I have done diddly squat.  Luckily its sunday, so Ill use the same excuse most of world uses for this sunday.  But mostly its b/c I cant focus.  I cant make myself sit still to get anything accomplished.  My brain is so jumbled up right now.  I did have a lovely talk with a friend of mine this morning.  A visit that was  much needed for both of us.  I think we both did a bit of soul work through talking this morning.  Where the rest of the day went, I have no clue.  Now its time to muster up the energy to go make some dinner for our bellies.  So, Ill leave you with a Neil Young song.  Its a sad one, but Ive always loved it.

PEACE,
Laura

Midnight in paris...

Last night I went on my date with my bestie, Shelley, to the Bijou, and we watched Midnight In Paris.  I was pleasantly surprised.  I didnt know anything about the movie going into it except who the main two characters were, who I both adore.  Anyone who fancies art and literary history as well as the roaring twenties, you must go see it!  And Owen Wilson is just adorable and funny as always.  Along with the movie, I had a greek pizza and a shiner.  Perfect night, and I couldnt thank my sweet friend enough for taking me out!

What I wore:
my favorite earrings from Lost Boys and Lovers
my favorite 4 bracelets from Flourish
a feather bottle necklace from Roots and Feathers that I kept
two tank tops from Forever 21
skinny jeans from Target
thrifted mocs

James helped me download a few more camera apps for my phone, so I had fun playing around with the effects.  Im pretty much in love.

And when James got home from work yesterday, he laid on the floor with Violet for some snuggles and it was just so precious.  She usually gets too excited when you lay down with her and gets up, but she just laid with him and rubbed her head on him, it was darling.  She does it all the time with me, but she is a momma's girl :)  So it made James really happy!

Todays agenda:  fill etsy orders.  clean house.  take care of some business at the bank.  order a few shirts for skyline fever.  organize my jewelry station.  put together blog giveaways.  have a friend over this evening.

This should keep me pretty busy.  Right now, all I want to do is fill my day up with things I must do, and keep my mind off of my emotional life as much as possible.  Its almost an impossible task, but it helps.

PEACE,
Laura

Little black dress...

After going to bed so late last night, we woke up to Nico chirping in our ears and the sun shining in so bright.  I just knew for sure it must have been about 10 o'clock or so.  Nope, only 8:30.  Geez...  ah well, Im excited to have my boy home with me today, even though I will mostly be working.  I may be putting him to work too :)  See the photo below of him?  Yep, that is him cutting chains for me!  I have conned him into helping me out this week.  Although he does have alternative motives.  He is saving up for something he really wants so Im sharing the profits with him just for his penny jar!  And its been a great help to me, plus I get to enjoy him next to me while I work, double plus!!!

The other day I wore my little black dress I got for my birthday.  I actually havent had a 'little black dress' since I was about 15, mostly b/c I do not buy black anything anymore it seems b/c of our pets.  And of course, within about an hour I was covered in white fur.  But it is still so cute :)  A lint roller is must in this house.  I wore it with on of my crochet vests, a roots and feathers necklace and my thrifted mocs.  such a comfy but cute outfit.  And I painted my nails glittery for the first time ever this week.  Love it.  And, I ate sushi from heb, a quick okay fix for when you want some sushi.

I also redecorated my window space in the dining room.  I love it, and I love the fact that I can change things around anytime.  I had to showcase my neil young album my bestie gave me.  This photo is making me miss my Violet, is that not adorable?  And the photo of Bella, she was just standing there with the sun shining on her and I had to run and grab my phone.  Gosh, Im a bit addicted to phone photos.  I never intended them to take over the way they have, its just so easy to grab my phone.

Today is day 3 of having lactose free creamer in my coffee, and not really having any dairy at all (except for my latte last night).  I think I have an allergy to it.  Im not sure yet if that is it, but something has been upsetting me and Im on the path to resolving it.  So far so good, so it just may be that.  It was the first thing I was going to try to eliminate from my diet to figure out what is going on.  Gosh I love milk though.  Luckily I can still eat yogurt and some cheeses b/c of the probiotics and low levels of lactose in some.  I think Id cry if I had to give up all of my favorites...

Time to force myself to get up, eat, and get busy!  I had a goal of cleaning the floors (deep cleaning) while Violet was gone, but my time is ticking away!

PEACE,
Laura
