BIRTHDAYS + DANCING + THRIFTING

I love today's post b/c it is so full of LIFE.  I had a very fulfilling weekend.  The first few pics are from our friend Jonny's birthday.  My scorpio friend turned 26.  It had actually been a whole damn year since the last time we had been out to his house.  This past year has kept us both very busy and life had made some twists and turns, but it was so nice to be out there again in the hills of Tarpley, surrounded by good friends, and enjoying each other like old times.  It was such a good and needed night.  Oh, and I fell in love with a girl that night.  See that beautiful brown haired sweetheart in my lap?  Her name is Pancake.  And it was love at first sight...  Oh, and we had a dance party, which basically consisted of me, Jonny & his mom while everyone else watched, like always.  Except his cousin joined us for a few songs with some really rad moves, it was awesome.

The next night I had a date with my bestie.  We went to one of our local honky tonk bars to listen to some friends of our play their beautiful music, drink a few beers and just be with each other.  Shortly after being there the cutest little old man (must of been in his 90's) asked us to dance.  At first we sadly turned him down out pure fear of dancing.  We both get super shy about it and have turned down plenty of men during our outings, usually never batting an eye at saying no.  But this 'no' crushed our hearts.  Well... 2 songs later he got the courage to ask again, and I couldn't say no this time.  I was terrified and had no idea what I was doing, but I'm so glad I did it.  We were the only ones on the dance floor and he showed me what to do.  I think we both gifted each other a little something that night.  I'll never forget the look in his eyes.

After sleeping in the next day, James and I went to our local antique shop.  Always one of my favorite things to do.  I found a beautiful vintage belt & a free people top for $12!  Score.

Then on sunday we went to the city to celebrate my nephew turning 7.  He was so cute the whole night and had a blast at his party.  It was just family, no other kids, and he didn't mind a bit.  He loves to be with his family and gets so excited for each person who shows up.  And he was my hero.  He was shooting nerf darts with James, and when James tried to shoot me he ran over and stood front of me with his arms wide open shouting 'Don't shoot aunt Laura!  I loooooveeeee her!!!!'  ha ha, it was so cute.  He is my little monkey.

The last pic is just a pic of my sexy husband, just b/c he is sexy.  ;)

EASTER

The past 3 Easter's we have spent the day with James folks going to Fredricksburg to walk around the shops, eat lunch and go to the Wildseed Farm and/or Luckenbach to listen to music.  Its kind of become a little tradition and I love it.  The day before we got together with my family and had dinner, so it was so nice to visit with both sides of our family over the weekend.

We also visit this place each year that has tons of iron yard art, planters and other miscellaneous things... I love just walking around oooing and ahhhing over everything.  And so far each year, we have taken photos in front of this tree and fence with honeysuckle that you see below.  We even parked in the same spot, ha ha!

The wildseed farm has very little flowers this year compared to last.  We are assuming b/c of the drought.  It was kind of sad seeing what one year difference can make with no rain.  We need some rain so bad.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

GOODBYE CHRISTMAS

me and my nephew

And the christmas madness is over with!  Ha ha.  It actually was not madness at all for me this year.  I enjoyed every moment of it, even the food induced comas over the last two days.  I actually just threw all of the leftover pie, brownies and cookies I had in the trash this morning b/c I just can't take one more piece, and neither can James.  We hit our breaking point last night!

This is my favorite photo from christmas of me and my little nephew, the silliest cutest kid I know.  He was so excited about each of his gifts, it was priceless.

In a few hours Im off to go spend the night and the next whole day with my Nanna!  It's her birthday and I'm so happy I get to spend the whole day with her.  Its been really nice this month to do alot of things that are out of my normal routine of being home and making jewelry.  The family and friend moments weve had this month have been so good for my heart.  Last night we stopped by my besties house to give the kids their gifts and we ended up staying for dinner and up till the kids bed time.  It was unexpected and so nice.

Its noon and I should probably start packing!  My sale will be going on through the weekend and all orders from yesterday through sunday will go out on monday!  And then Ill be back with more updates on my new lookbook too!  I kind of forgot about the holiday time out when I posted it.

So much love to each and everyone of you!!!

LIFE LATELY // BDAYS + GOOD MUSIC

On the 17th I went to see Steve Earle with my bestie at Floore's Country Store.  I'm still on a Steve high, over a week later!  I've been listening to him all week.  It was such a great night that I won't forget.  The last time I saw Steve play was at the Folk Festival in Kerrville with my dad in 2011, so it was really nice to have a really good next time of seeing him.  I wasn't sure if it was going to make me sad or not, but it was all good.  Shelley and I toasted to my dad and kept his spirit with us during the show.  I figured Id see all his old friends there b/c they always go to his shows, but we did not see one person we knew the whole night, except for spotting Ben Dorsey, the most adorable and oldest roadie around.   They brought so many different guitars, banjos, mandolins, etc.  Such a great eclectic show with so many of my favorite songs!  I already can't wait for him to make his way back to Texas.  And yes I may of had a little girl moment b/c he caught my eye several times throughout the show...

Then on the 19th we threw a party for my nephew at my house for his 6th birthday.  Shelley came over with the kids and they had a blast.  Aiden really enjoyed himself and acted just like a 6 year old boy.  It was so nice to have my family at my house, a rare occasion.  And it was so sweet watching my Nanna hold Shelley's youngest.  He loved her and then just fell asleep in her arms.  Click on the pics to see them larger.

Then on the 23rd we went out to our friends house to celebrate his 25th birthday.  All the pics I took came out way dark, but I loved these two.  Jenn made the most amazing Totoro cake!!!!!  Adorable and yummy carrot cake!  And this photo of Jonny and Lee just make me smile.  Good night.
