This outfit was from about two weeks ago when me and my bestie went to see Steve Earle play at Gruene Hall.  We met up with my friend Tiffany Huff of Axis Moon and her hubby, which was the first time meeting them in the flesh.  We met in line waiting to go into the hall.  The moment I saw them walking across the street I fell in love.  Instant kindreds, and the sweetest of souls.  Even my bestie told me days later how sweet she thought they were.  They left a good feeling in our soul, and I can't wait to spend more time with them.

Steve's show was nothing short of amazing, just like everytime Ive seen him.  I think that was about the 5th time seeing him.  And we get to see him again in June!  I love that he comes to play Floore's, a venue so close to home, every year.  Thank God he's a Texas native even though he doesn't reside here anymore.  Once you have Texas in your heart it never goes away!  His new blues album is so good.  It was great hearing the new songs live, and he played some of my old favorites too.  Damn I love that man!

THE DAY OF A PHOTOSHOOT

via rootsandfeathers.com

I feel like I could scream from the rooftops b/c I am finally done with the physical part of creating the second Bohemian Collective Magazine.  This one seriously felt like it took a lifetime, but I'm so grateful to be at the point of exhale, b/c quite honestly, I need it.  I think I tested my adrenals with this one, as it paralleled with other things going on in life that had me feeling quite tense.  So now, I can exhale.  I can just be for a while.  Time for the down cycle to be here for a little while...

Anyway, I thought it would be fun to show a few behind the scenes of our photoshoot day.  I didn't get many photos b/c the day was pretty packed, and it was just me and James.  I was so fortunate to be able to shoot the lookbook at my friend's beautiful home.  I so wish we could of postponed it another month b/c now this area is completely covered in greenery that was not there just a month ago!  But still, its just a beautiful spot regardless.

Even though it was just me and James most of the time while we were shooting, this was a huge step out of my comfort zone of shooting only at my own home with a self timer.  I could feel my nerves all day long, ha ha.  I'm pretty silly like that.  But in the end I was so proud of James, b/c he is NOT a photographer, but he did a great job taking direction and sticking in there with me through all of my awkwardness.  It's been so fun to work with him as a team on so many projects, and I'm happy that he was here to help me with this one.

The morning of I was trying to stay as calm as possible, so I listened to some Dylan records and took my time getting ready.  Keeping myself from feeling rushed and crazy.

Everything for the shoot filled up the entire backseat of our car!  It took us two days of shooting to get all of the outfits done.

I made paleo muffins for the weekend and I'm so glad I did.  It's hard to stop and eat, or even think about normal human functions when your in the middle of a big shoot, so these babies got me through when I didn't have time to think about what to put in my mouth.

Here's a little sneak peek of how the shoot went.  Every little corner of my friend's home is so beautiful.  I kinda just want to live there.

The magazine is coming out on May 1st!  There is a 12 page editorial from this shoot in it!  I get the proof in the mail today and I'm so excited!!!  It's almost here!

TIME FOR A NEW STORY

via rootsandfeathers.com

2015. So far it has blown by so quickly it's hard to keep up with what month I am in.  At least that is the way it feels most days.  It's been very UP and very DOWN. And the changes happen so rapidly, like within days, sometimes hours.  And most days seem to spring the unexpected on you that you can't expect to know how your day will go.  Things I have planned to get done, seem to keep getting pushed back by other events, by blows emotionally, by whatever.  And then the 'catch up' feels so overwhelming that I just want to play in daydream land, and at times I just allow myself too b/c I know it's exactly what my body needs.  PLAY.  These images are from one of those days.

In order for things to really leave our bodies, they have to come back up for re-examination.  That is what has been happening to me alot lately.  Deep changes.  Deep reflections.  Old feelings coming up showing me the ways I have beaten myself up, felt not good enough, pretty enough, worthy enough, whatever enough.  Old emotional patterns, things Ive allowed others to make me feel about myself, history.  And its time to re-write my story.  Create a new one that leaves the negative self talk behind.  One that fully embraces myself, in all ways, with pure love for self.  Eclipse Season, thank you.

It's time to be done with defining myself from my past.  Time to be done with caring what others might think of me.  Time to be done with any what-if's.  Time to be done with fearing the future, and fully trust the process of this journey.  Time for a new day.

FREDRICKSBURG TRADE DAYS

via rootsandfeathers.com

This past weekend we went to the Fredricksburg Trade Days to meet up with James family.  I hadn't been out there in a few years.  I used to go every year for a while b/c my parents would set up their jewelry booth there.  My favorite part of the whole place is the junkyard in the back.  Full of creepy doll heads, it looks like you are walking straight into a horror film.  And this day was foggy and dewy which only gave it a heightened sense of horror.  It was awesome!  I would love to do a photoshoot there sometime!

I found these beautiful treasures among the junkyard, except for the macrame, that was in a booth, but it was only $5!  Beautiful gems...  One of my favorite things in the world to do is go antiquing, thrifting, junking.  Scouring through was looks to be old discarded junk to find treasures.  God I love it.
