Hello Monday!  Today I am having a little 'friends' christmas party at my house!  I'm excited to see all my peeps for a few hours and just get to be with them a bit during this crazy busy holiday season.  I knew if I didn't just create the time and space to do it, life would happen and I probably wouldn't of seen any of them. 

Saturday I spent the day out at my parents house.  I knocked out a few photoshoots for my upcoming lookbook while James and our friend Joey worked their asses off repaving the driveway and cutting down tree limbs.  When I was done with my shoots I helped move all the limbs James was cutting to a huge pile.  And Joey even got me to use the chainsaw and cut down some limbs myself.  It was fun!  I was so sore the next day, so I can only imagine how they felt doing it for 8 or 9 hours straight..  They went back out there and worked all day sunday too.  I am forever grateful to have a husband who has taken so much initiative to get some things done out there, and for our friend Joey who has been the only one who has helped us out there with labor.  I'm honestly not sure where I would be without those two!  It has taken so much labor to get things accomplished out there... things I never would of been able to do on my own.  Over the past two years, they have faithfully spent their free time working so hard to clean this place up.  So so grateful.

During our time out there I had a few little adventures in the woods, while taking photos and while waiting on the boys, and I found two spots with deer bones.  I found my very first skull with antlers!  I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it.  It was strange, both times I felt lured to the bones, seriously.  Both I found in unexplored territory out there, spots I felt compelled to venture into that I haven't been to before, or at least not since I was little.  My spirit swells up with complete happiness when I am roaming in the woods.  There is nothing else like it.

And for the first time I was able to be out there without getting sad.  There was not one moment I was sad.  It was so so nice.

I just have to mention how much I love these rings from Flight of Fancy.  She made me the Gemini ring in honor of my mom, and I love it so so much.  So special to me.  I love how simple and delicate these rings are.

Now that it has been super cold here in Texas I have been in layers layers layers, and cozy cozy cozy.  I can't stand to have too many layers on if they are not comfy.  I wear alot of leggings in the wintertime.  And I can't even express how much these Minnetonka boots have been a blessing this season.  I really did think they would be too much for winter in Texas but I have been wearing these almost every day lately.  Even just around the house like house slippers b/c they are so warm and cuddly on my feet.  LOVE these boots.  Best part, I can put them on hands free!  Talk about lazy!  I can just slip my feet in them and put them on without even touching them with my hands.  In my book, that rocks!

I'm simply in love with the tassels on this sweater too from Sheinside.  I actually got it in two different colors b/c I love the style so much.  Its actually pretty lightweight for being a big sweater, so its really easy to layer with, which is great.

I must take a moment to express how much I love this Bird Trouble bag.  I have been admiring this bag since the day she put it on her (virtual) shelves.  My jaw dropped the moment I saw it.  Fast forward probably a year or more and sweet Alexz asked to work out a trade and I immediately thought of this bag!  The one she had in stock she could not find and she so kindly made me a whole new bag from scratch!  That is how much this girl rocks! (I just said rocks twice in the same blog post, what is happening to my language??)  I love her work, Ill say it till the day I die.  She is quality.  She is amazing.  I highly highly recommend her work.

I finally got my tree up yesterday!!!  I love it so much.  I had so much fun going through all my ornaments, putting them up one at a time.  My tree feels so special with so many old, handmade ornaments.  It really is beginning to look alot like christmas around here!

DOWN BY THE RIVER

Every day we drive by this river on our way to the post office and the past few weeks I have whined everytime we do b/c the leaves are so beautiful and I want to be taking pictures down there.  We finally took advantage of it and snapped a few pics together before the leaves are all gone.  Two weeks ago they were a billion times brighter than they are here... I need to plan better next year. (I say that every year).  I have been drooling over the trees this season and was really hoping they would still be lingering around for my lookbook shoot this week, but alas, we had a freeze and most of the leaves are now gone.

This is what I wore on Thanksgiving.  I love the top photo of me and James!  I have to say, I had the best hair day of my life that day!  If only I could get my hair to look like that everyday!  After being sick for most of the week before this, it felt so good to get dressed up, be around people I loved and I just felt really good in general.  We had such a nice time at my Nanna's house.  We had a full house, including some neighbors who recently lost family and some co-workers of my brothers who are new in town and didn't have family around.  It was really nice to have everyone there.  After not having solid food for two days b/c of my sickies, the food was AMAZING!  Ha ha.  I totally pigged out.
