The Story of Us - Part 4

DISCLOSURE:
from these pictures it would seem like we have had nothing but smiles and roses, that is NOT the case, we have had MAJOR ups and downs, as ANY relationship has, I just dont care to share those moments. We are a very REAL couple, WITH flaws, I guarantee you!

Since the wedding we have...

taken family portraits (thanks Katelyn)

Worn unibombers on our honeymoon
(james dad's glasses from the 70's)

Had even more fun with old glasses!

and yes, even Sugar, his parents dog, partook in this one!
aquired LOTS of new babies! Hazel, the fawn, being just one of them.
we have had very reclusive romantic anniversaries
we have been tattooed together
we have taken alot of naps :)
we have had 3 excellent christmases, and handmade our stockings
we have left each other many sweet notes
we have had many tent parties!!! Violet loves them!
Many snuggles laying on the floor
I have won like 20 games of scrabble!!! Grand Master! (okay, so james won his first one a while back, now he thinks hes king!) ... and apparently this is my 'oh yeah i just beat AGAIN' face :)
we have eaten at fun restaurants. and james has seen a few (just a few) drunken episodes of me.
we have taken trips to Lost Maples and other fun places
we have had many picnics
we have taken lots of photos together
and james has put up with me taking lots
and lots
and lots of the these photos.
So, that is the story of us. With many other adventures in between...

I wish everyone in the world to find a bit of what we have. I love this boy, and he loves me. Even though at times we thought we didnt, love has always pulled us through.

PEACE,
Laura

OUR WEDDING

Everything about our wedding was special to me. I dont have pictures of it all right now, but everything had special meaning to me.

The major things that were special to me were:
*my best friend made my cake
*her mother made my dress
*i handmade all the table cloths
*my nanna handmade all the cloth napkins
*i made a china photo collage of our families portraits
*my dad made the awesome frame our photo was in
*a good friend of mine was our preacher
*our food was made by a friend of ours
*all of my special people were there
*a friend was our photographer
*it was at my parents home outside
*everything was done with love by the hands of friends and family
*we wrote our own vows
*all of the music we chose we very meaningful to us

among so many other things.

This pearl necklace was given to me right before the wedding by a special family member. So I ditched the necklace I had bought and wore the pearls!
James in the sunroom before anything. This is where we cut the cake and had the sign sheet. you can see all the little stacks of china plates we used for the cake! and on the left on the wall is the china display i mentioned before. i transferred photos of our parents and our grandparents wedding photos on to them, and put our photo in between them.
The boys. Left is Joey, james best friend, and right is Mark, his brother. They wore ties from Toybreaker on etsy.
The girls. Believe it or not, they are all wearing between $10 to $20 dresses! And are all wearing broken china necklaces. And my dress was only $60 (material)... only b/c I was blessed to have my besties mom not let me pay her to make it, it was my wedding gift.
my flower girls. so precious.
isabel, i couldnt resist posting these of just her, she was so precious in her outfit and her long hair. Her baby face. she is so big now.

the right side of the attendees. we had so many loving people there.
james and joey held hands walking down the isle, and made everyone crack up.
james sweet smile while waiting.
i just love this photo. james looks so sweet. We played Saves The Day "She" as the song I walked down the isle to. it was perfect.
My daddy surprised me by walking down the isle with Noogs, can you spot him in his arms? It was perfect.
We nervously smiled and held hands. I was only nervous about being in front of so many people, not the getting married part.
the rings... my bracelet had a locket, a charm and a ring that belonged to Jame's mom, my grandmother and my great grandmother.
Married!
and giddy
my mommy hug right afterwards. i cherish this photo so much. i did not get very many pics of my mom at all from that day. and i was in such a whirlwind, i hardly remember seeing her. but i know it was one of the best days of her life, even though she was in pain.
our quick portraits before the party, this is my favorite one. (i edited all my photos)

The perfect wedding. I loved it. And I am so thankful for everything everyone did for us, we could not have done it without so many loving friends and family.

The Story of Us - Part 2

We accumulated lots beautiful photos and lovely moments spent, and as crazy as I thought it was, we were in love.

On March 17, 2007 we had plans to go on a date downtown San Antonio. As far as I knew, it was just another date. It was one of the first places we had gone on a date, and as far as I remember, one of the first 'real' kisses, in the car, in the parking garage, before the date, ha ha! we couldnt wait apparently!

We ate at an Italian restaurant that I dont even remember the name of on the Riverwalk, it was not very good. Then we walked along the riverwalk. Then we walked up to La Villita, a little center above the riverwalk that has a little rock church that they do a soup kitchen out of and feed the poor, which is also where my parents got married. I always liked to visit it when I go down there. I was very excited to go see it. By this time, it was dark, the street lights were lit, and there was no one around La Villita but us. Very romantic.

Pretty much as soon as we got on the steps of the church, James turned around and grabbed my hands and simply asked me if I would marry him. I had no idea this was going to happen!!! And I immediately said yes!

He then took a big sigh and told me how he had a speech and wanted it to be more romantic but he got so nervous that he just blurted it out! lol. so cute. Then he told me that everyone knew, he had asked permission of my parents, his parents, my nanna, my best friend and his best friend! He went to everyone who was closest to us to make sure it was okay. And everyone excitedly and lovingly gave him blessings to do so. He even asked my dad, which I think is so funny and cute, and my dad told him, 'if you help me get these cats out this shop, then yes you can', ha ha, so my dad!

He didnt even propose with a ring, now that takes guts! He knew I would not like a store bought ring at all, and honestly if he would have given me a diamond ring, I probably would have handed it back to him, b/c that means he wouldnt have known me at all. I HATE diamonds and would never wear one.

We had some artists friends handmake us each engagement and wedding bands, and I used a pearl that my grandfather has given my aunt in my wedding ring. Which has now chipped away and is no longer pearly, but I dont want to replace it.

*im not a showy girl, im a sentimental girl*

then i called everyone, who already knew, and excitedly told them the news!

This was the unexpecting girl on her date night :)
and this was James proud face after the proposal :)
fast forward a bit... this is us preparing for our wedding. and this picture captures 'us' very well!

We did sooooooo much for the wedding. It was at my parents house and we literally made from the ground up an entire Italian villa garden. We actually went to a friends ranch and dug out boulders from the ground by the truck loads to bring them to the yard, it was insane! We did so much, we actually induced a seizure on James! Not even kidding.

Our days after that, was mostly spent preparing for the wedding...

and getting lots of coffees!
we went to the beach and took fun photos! gosh this was a good time.

lots of house sitting at our friends house
yep, more coffee!
and again, i have like 100's of photos, and I dont even know how to find them all on my computer anymore!!!

more to come!

PEACE,
Laura

The Story of Us - Part 1

Coming up on the 22nd is James and I's 3 year anniversary, so I thought Id do a 4 day blog party about our relationship. I have actually never blogged about our wedding or anything, so this will be fun! And take me back down memory lane a bit!

These photos do not start from the beginning, but close enough...

We have been friends since the 7th grade. When he first met me, I was his cousin's best friend. It was before I really became girly at all, and when he met me I had on baggy jeans, a big guys tshirt, tennis shoes, a bob hair cut and bushy eyebrows without makeup. Needless to say, he thought I was a boy! ha ha. seriously. Then he taught me and his cousin how to skate on his mini ramp. I just busted my ass alot! But it was fun and I thought he was cute.

Speed up a few years, in freshman year, I actually dated his brother! Although that didnt last very long. Then both James and I got into long term relationships, and always remained friends. We had photography class together and would always skip class and he would skate and I would take pictures. Technically we had permission to 'go take photos' so I guess it wasnt really skipping class, we just werent very serious about the 'taking photos' part :)

Then there was like a two week period that we both had broken up with our 'mates' and we had a little fling. Well, coming from a very small town, it turned into a HUGE thing and EVERYONE hated us for a long time. We got the meanest glares from all the football guys and girls when walking down the halls (his ex girl was friends with them all). Which was funny b/c James was (and still is) a skater.

Anyway, we both got back with our 'mates' and didnt think much of it for years. After high school he and his girl broke it off, but I stayed with my boyfriend for 8 years. We thought we were going to get married at one point. We moved in with each other for a few years, and things were just not right for me and I eventually had to end it.

Then, James popped right back into my life. And he never left! ha ha. My mom told that she felt like he was always waiting for me, since we were younger.

All of these pics were taken while we were first dating. I have tons of pics, so these are just a few.

I had blonde hair :)

(this was when we were just friends)
we were all dorky and matchy :)
folk festival laying on a blanket
when we used to love the Grotto, we went on ALOT of dates there, and gosh i miss this hair, it was blonde, black and orange!
we were always taking silly pics together, and again, all cute and matchy!
the beginning of me making him take artsy pics with me!

more to come each day!!!

PEACE,
Laura
