Yesterday I spent the entire day cleaning my home.  My clean days seem to be fewer and further between lately, so when it comes time, it is sooooooo needed.  I embarrassed myself at how bad it was.  But it feels so refreshing and homey again.  Even James said last night while we were sitting on the couch that it felt really homey again.  While I was cleaning I was smiling from ear to ear, and I realized there is a feeling I get when I'm 'nesting' in my own home that is like no other.  Yes, sometimes cleaning can be a pain in the butt, when your really not in the mood... But when the mood strikes me to focus on nothing but my home, I really get into it and enjoy the heck out of it!  I play music all day long, burn incense, and just make pretty.  It seriously rejuvenates me.

I still have a bit more to do today... the bedroom and bathrooms.  And I'm sure it will only take a few days to become a wreck again.  I've never been very good at putting things back where they belong.  I'm like my dad in that respect.  You could always tell what he had done or where he had been that day b/c he left a trail behind him.  But, I am like my mother in how I love to clean and rearrange and make things beautiful.

Time to go throw on some tunes and get back to it...

A little update on our deer friends.  The babies have now joined in on the feeding.  Just a few weeks ago their mamas kept them on the sidelines in the woods, but now they are letting them come hang with the big guys.  They are so sweet.  At first they were pretty timid and would run easily but now they are some of the first to run up and don't get spooked as easily.  There were just two babies that came around but now there are three!  I don't think my excitement of seeing the babies will ever go away.  I hope they grow up to be our friends.

And of course with this many deer, in the Texas heat, there is bound to be some tension.  I caught a few fights on my camera, but that one above tops them all so I'll just share that one.  And we got our first male in the yard below!  Look how stunning he is.  He doesn't come around regularly, usually its just the females.  He was pretty shy, but we've seen him a few times now.  I just love his fuzzy antlers.

Last week I almost got one of the adult mamas to eat out of my hand.  She ate next to me for about 10 minutes within 1-2 feet distance.  It was so amazing.  One day... it will happen!

And OMG!!!  The best thing happened the other day but I wasn't able to photograph it, but when we walked outside to leave one afternoon I looked over and one of the baby deer was laying inside my teepee!!!  It got spooked so I only saw it for a split second but it was the sweetest thing ever!  I had told them that they were more than welcome to use the teepee, but didn't really expect to ever see on of them in it, much less a baby!!!!

A WALK THROUGH THE WOODS

One of my favorite ways to relax and rekindle my soul is to walk through the woods, very slowly, with camera in hand.  I like to pay close attention the all the details around me.  Take a closer looks at the leaves on the ground, or the way the light shines through something, or the textures of a piece of bark.  It seems to reconnect me with the earth and fills me back up.  Capturing these things with a camera is just second nature to me.  I wish all the time my eyes could take photos.  Especially when sitting in the passenger seat on drives...  These images are from one of my walks last week.  I love finding hidden surprises, like a dandelion petal stuck inside a deer skull.  How magical.
